It better not be some rubbish where Zoro comes back and Marco just steps aside and says “oh, you’re a Strawhat/next gen, I’ll let you fight him while I go... fly somewhere else.”
Marco is too strong to be wasted here
This is interesting now. The assumption since Zoro went back down was that Perospero would blindside Marco who was fighting King and Queen and that would free up Zoro for King.
That isn’t happening now, Sanji’s already taken Queen, And I really can’t see King actually managing to defeat Marco...
A few things
-there is a storyline with Marco being aware that he has a purpose in this fight, but being unsure what that purpose is, that has now been ongoing for twenty chapters. That can easily become beating King to defend the new generation, especially given their respective positions in a...
Still nuts to rule out Marco just cause of the new generation theme.
Kyros in Dressorsa did not fit the theme of characters who will become GF leaders and actually took away two potential fights (Buffalo and Diamanete) from the Strawhats and their allies. Fights that could have went to Robin...
It’s Marco. Zoro might still do it, but that’s becoming more and more unlikely.
I very much suspect that Oda‘s original plan for Wano was Zoro vs King where Zoro learns to cut fire then moves on to Kaido, with Marco not being on Wano at all, instead having a later plotline with Weevil that has...
Oda can frame it as Marco taking King out of the equation so as to give the new generation freedom to fight Kaido and BM on the roof. That’s basically what he did by kicking the BM Pirates down the waterfall.
Marco is here to do something, he‘s had the opportunity to fight with Kaido and BM on...
Tbh I think that Sanji is completely irrelevant to the conversation anyway, it’s either Marco or Zoro that fights King.
Just pointing out that there is precedent for Sanji being “relegated” from his usual fighting position
Sanji will get other fights, Marco won’t.
And it’s far from the first time that Sanji has been given a lesser opponent, or even none at all, in favour of a stronger ally. Look at Punk Hazard, where he didn’t beat anyone. Or Skypiea, where all he got was a 3 vs 1 with Satori while Wyper...
I don’t think Oda is averse to a bit of fanservice, and Marco’s an insanely popular character- one of the top ten non-Strawhats in the polls since Marineford, and both took place well after it when he hadn’t done anything in years.
It wouldn’t much surprise me if he’s decided to give him a...
It would make us think “huh, maybe Marco won’t win this one so easily after all”, especially given the hypothetical match up advantage would be in King’s favour. One Piece fans are extremely fickle, if we were to discover that for some reason Marco can’t regenerate from King’s fire- and in the...
All Oda needs to do to add uncertainty to Marco vs King is have King overpower Marco, reveal that his flames are a matchup advantage against Marco's and that King has a higher bounty all in the one chapter.
Not quite.
If Zoro does fight King, he will then not be in any shape to have an extended fight with Kaido.
He can still land at least one good hit on him and give us a satisfying end to the "Zoro will cut a dragon on Wano" buildup that doesn't involve us pretending that a dinosaur is a dragon...
It's something I very much agree with, but am not sure helps us work out who he will fight.
Luffy and Zoro have been the main characters in Wano. Nobody is going to be able to argue otherwise to me. Other characters have been important, but thus far there's been a clear narrative focus on the...
Here's what I said yesterday in other thread about it.
If pushed to make an absolute decision, I'd say it's Zoro vs King and Marco as a main fighter against Kaido. But I do feel it can go either way right now
Zoro's been able to deal with flying enemies since Skypiea. Whole fight with Braham about it.
The idea that Zoro can't take him on because he can't fly is just... stupid. Rayleigh can't fly. Does that mean he can't take on King or Marco? Would Buggy have to be the matchup for that fight? From...
And now you're abandoning all trace of an argument and going into nonsense about "trash" and "defeated by pleasures."
Enma does not make him attack faster
Enma does not make him physically stronger
Enma does not make him more mobile
Enma does not improve his endurance
Enma does not make him...
