Luffy, Zoro and Nami. that is it.
these 3 meet each other and from there on you could call it a crew.
the rest they just stumbled apon.
You all forget the manumental scenes of:
- Usopp drawing SH flag (after the main 5 joined"
- The 5 SH putting their legs on a barrel stating their dreams

You all act like "main characters stopped after Nami joined Lol

So god damn pathetic!

The fact that some people are creating this to just give more heat against Sanji... while at the same time they forget about Usopp's importance as one of the MC is fucking lauhable!

It's just a god damn desperate move to again belittle a character, but in the same time... they in turn would belittle the whole rest of the crew importance!

Ussop and sanji are snakes that slated and disrespected the captain. They lucky to still be here...

Yall are completely wrong. The answer isn’t Sanji or Nami, saying either of those two is like airballing a free throw shot with no one near you. The answer is Robin and imma try to keep it brief.

Valuable Skills: For one she can read the poneglyphs (way more valuable than anything Nami and Sanji can do) and without her, the rubber boy won’t be Pirate King, the crew wouldn’t go to Raftel and Nami won’t be able to draw that map to get to Raftel. She also spits the most useful facts and information when the crew needs it, Sanji meanwhile spends half his time uttering gag lines and Nami is ok when it comes to interactions, but she is no where near as knowledgeable as her superior, Robin.

Dream: Has the more impactful dream than Sanji and Nami. This shit not even close tbh. Her dream of learning the true history is tied with the entire overlying narrative of the series and its history, and as a result brings about the very final war. That is simply more significant than finding an exotic sea or whatever in the world Nami’s dream was about, if I can’t remember it off the top of my head, that goes to show how little value it has to begin with.

Impact in the Verse: Dubbed as the “Light Of The Revolution” by the Revolutionaries, the main opposing force of the WG. Also the only member of the crew besides Luffy to be formally recognized by the most dangerous man in the world:

the same cannot be said for Sanji and Nami. Sanji hasnt even been able to excel in his role as the fighter, which is why it makes sense he has turned to what he does best; cooking.

But doing things like baking a cake that only momentarily distracted Big Mama isn’t no where near being recognized as the crucial piece to overcoming the 800 year tyrannical rule that is the World Government. I mean what is Sanji going to do that time? Prepare some refreshments for the Gorosei to get distracted over?

As for Nami, maybe turning out to be Uranus will be a good enough impact because she’s not viewed as much of a significant threat in the verse. Maybe taking Hancock’s title could help as well, but Robin is closer that than Nami ever will be if we are honest with ourselves:kayneshrug:

here you have it boys and girls. Robin is simply more relevant to the plot than both Nami and Sanji. Honestly you could have these two do the fusion dance and turn into Nanji:

And they’d still be less important than the character that is known as Nico “The Light of One Piece” Robin aka:

I rest my case :jordanmf:

calm down, honey. you overreact. by quite a lot too. not everyone is out to get you.

its not about belittling cause I did not single out a character in this. the op did. all of the SHs that joined after Nami were just picked up along the way.
Luffy and Zoro were on their way to look for a vessel when they happened upon Usopp.
they picked up Sanji while their actual goal was to get Nami back.
Zoro and Nami were actively sought out by Luffy. the rest just happened to be in the right spot when they passed by.

additionally, you should, for once, take the authors own words on this matter.
this does not reduce Sanjis (nor anyon elses) worth to the story. its how it is.
how relevant that is? who knows. accept it and move on.

EDIT: the barrel scene was the original 5 EB members. thats it. they cheered when they made it to the grand line.

The third main character is Nami :

She was the first straw hat introduced in the manga and was the second straw hat to join the crew. Meaning she’s apart of the original trio (Luffy, Zoro and Nami). Her importance goes far beyond just fighting which is what a lot of people miss because all they focus on is the fighting aspect of One piece.

For people who don’t believe that there is more than 1 main character you need to re-read not only this manga but other mangas in general.

One Piece - Top 3

Luffy / Zoro / Nami

Naruto - Top 3

Naruto / Sasuke / Sakura

DBZ - Top 3

Goku / Vegeta / Gohan

Fairy Tail - Top 3

Natsu / Lucy / Gray

and plenty of other manga too.

- Sanji is also a main character but he is more like the 5th main character

and yet... Luffy cried his breathe out saying he would never be able to become pirate king without Sanji on his side... soo Luffy is lucky as well to have him
Luffy needs every crew member he has to become PK.

Zoro - Strongest Subordinate

Sanji - Cooks all the food

Franky - Fixes the ship when it’s damaged

Brook - Ultimate spy / Musician

Robin - Reads the Poneglyphs

Chopper - Heals people

Nami - Is the navigator

Ussop - Is the sniper and Luffy’s best friend

Lol this is a thread? Nami was called a “trigger” of the story alongside Luffy and Zoro, is third in command, is most prominently displayed in big issues alongside Zoro, is at least third most important in role if not higher, has the second most panel time in the series, and we’re questioning whether or not she’s the third main character of the series?

Not sure where you're getting your statistics from lolz maybe if u're talking fan fav polls, but the story certainly doesn't suggest that one SH is more important than the other (or at the very least not with regards to any SH not named Luffy who's our primary main protagonist). Rather I'd argue the story does the exact opposite. All 9 of the SHs are our main protagonists with each and every one of them performing unique and pivotal roles in the crew and each of them will be equally important to reaching the end game of one piece. I feel like even Luffy has stressed this a million times already...lolz. Take Robin outta of the crew and SHs have no way of getting to OP as they can't read the poneglyphs. Take Franky outta the crew and SHs prolly sink before they are able to get to the one piece. Hell the fact that they the SHs were even able to make it to Onigashima last chapter is almost certainly thanks to Franky's godly shipwright skills. Of course some SHs excel more than others in certain fields, some are better fighters, some are better leaders, some are more intelligent, some are better creators but that doesn't make them any more important than any of their counterparts. Can't help but feel that this is another one of them dick measuring contests between fanbases, "my fav character is more important than urs" kinda deal:pepeke:. Not sure why that even matters tbh ^^".

Nami was called a “trigger” of the story alongside Luffy and Zoro
Which she is, but doesn't make her more of a main character than others. Obviously, a character added later on the story won't have been one of its triggers no matter their importance.

is third in command
She subordinated to Sanji when the crew went to Zou.

is most prominently displayed in big issues alongside Zoro
So is Usopp or Sanji.

has the second most panel time in the series
Is this proportional?

and we’re questioning whether or not she’s the third main character of the series?
Yes. I see no reason why Nami is more important than Usopp, for example.
