Did people forget that Lafitte snuck into the most guarded location in the world and was able to listen to multiple top and high tiers discussing potentially important information without them noticing?

He was introduced Post TS with Shiryu.

He is a flying Zoan, who looks like an angel. Be kinda weird if Sanji never fights a flying character, especially if you don’t believe in Sanji vs King

He has a title within the crew

it’s Sanji guys.

Lafitte will probably be too strong for Nami and is too important for someone like Brook

Lafitte’s also one of the more important Blackbeard Pirates (Chief of Staff, introduced them at the Warlord meeting, him and Shiryu reintroduced together, its emphasised how loyal he is to Blackbeard), so it makes sense for him to match up to a more important Strawhat- which Brook isn’t, but Nami is.
In that case I'd see it more as an argument for Sanji over Nami:

Oda has only ever matched Nami up against female opponents:
  • Mr 1.'s partner
  • Khalifa
  • Monet
  • Ulti

Robin has at least fought men before:
  • She defeated Yama
  • She restrained Hakuba

Given that Catarina is going to be matched up against one of them, well Nami seems more likely to get the designated female opponent than Robin is.

Current Law is weaker than DR Luffy
Current Law is stronger than Post WCI Luffy, he performed far better against a stronger Kaido.

Post WCI Luffy:
  • He did zero damage to Base Kaido.
  • He was oneshot by a Base Thunder Bagua without COC.

Wano Law:
  • Along with the other Supernova fought Hybrid Kaido and Linlin for over an hour.
  • He reacted to Hybrid Kaido and shambles Zoro out of his grasp.
  • He successfully outsped Hybrid Kaido and landed an injection shot on him, making him cough up blood.
  • He reacted to Hybrid Kaido and blocked his club strike with Curtain.
  • He tanked a Thunder Bagua infused with COC and was largely fine afterwards.

Chapter 1010 Law > Post WCI Luffy.

Yeah, this is pretty persuasive. To further bolster your argument:
  • If he has an Angel theme, it will nicely contrast Sanji's devil one.
  • He's a speedster which also matches up nicely with Sanji's skill set.
  • If he's as formidable a combatant as "Chief of Staff" and his dialogue with Burgess suggests, then he'll be out of Nami and Brook's playing field.
There's also this:

I do not think that Oda will make a mugiwara fight a devil fruit that another mugiwara already beat. Zoro vs Shiliew is Sanji vs Absalom with swords.

Furthermore, Oda curveball fetish will hit again.
I don't see it:
  • Shiryuu is a swordsman that represents the antithesis of Zoro, so there can be an ideological conflict to their battle.
  • He offers a clear path for Zoro to mature/develop as a combatant (improving his COO).
  • He's BB's most formidable combatant.

More so than King, Shiryuu is an ideal opponent. If not him, who will Zoro face?

Luffy vs Teach

Usopp vs Augur

These make the most sense.

I have to agree with @Cinera. Shiryu is deliberately designed as a dark reflection of Zoro, much like how Teach is for Luffy, and Oda devoted time to building him up as a dangerous swordsman, it would be a waste if he didn’t face the series’s most prominent swordsman. Plus I think Shiryu’s story coincides with the themes tied to Zoro’s training and growth. Those being that a sword which harms all it touches isn’t really a sword.

Absalom definitely didn’t make the most use out of his fruit. Shiryu will be an entirely different entity with it.

it’s worried because burgress makes sense for zoro also with the cutting diamond foreshadowing
1. Don’t get ahead of yourself, there isn’t any indication Burgess has the Diamond fruit, it’s only a popular theory.
2. Cutting diamond on principle doesn’t offer much of different challenge as cutting steel, so it would be a repeat of Daz Bones.

Luffy vs Bb
Zoro vs Shiryu
Ussop vs Auger
Chopper vs Doc Q
The 4 above are kinda obvious
Sanji vs pizarro
Nami vs Catarina devon
She collects the heads of beautiful women and Nami gets more fanservice and attention for her beauty than Robin
Jinbe vs Vasco shot
I think he will get a df that makes him control alcohol so it could be nice to see water jutsu vs Alcohol df
Battleship san juan wolf vs Franky
Laffite vs Brook
"Jesus" Burgess vs Robin doesn't fit so maybe he fights the last sh while Robin fights the 10th titanic captain

P.s
Marco beats Kuzan because he has nothing else to do

It's not clear that Zoro needs to learn a new technique for diamond cutting given that he's already learned Ryuo.

Kokuto should be harder than diamond anyway.

Yeah. To add to this, Zoro didn't learn a technique for cutting steel. He learned a technique to cut everything and nothing, the "mighty blade". It's a single technique and has been revealed to be an application of armament haki.

Zoro having to learn to cut diamond would be very repetitive and should be unnecessary as he already knows the technique. A development that Zoro's haki isn't strong enough yet wouldn't make sense so late in the story (especially given Zoro's display vs Kaido).
