Character Discussion Do you think Zoro would have been popular MC than luffy ?

Wow man what a comeback you compelety destroyed my argument by posting some facts i stated
Please stop crying u are ruining ur clown make up, you are just another Zoro hater denying himself.

Just a pair of days ago i was talking with others under a video about how much brook is unused and most useless of all the mugi, and a guy came up with "he is a much better character than zoro". It was a brook and only the brook discussion, yet Zoro was brought in, and this happen 90% of the times. You can keep denying it if this makes you feel better, you are just like them and you exposed yourself badly. This thread just prove it even more, i don't see any hate towards luffy, only towards zoro.

Yup, it's probably because Japan has a lot of fictional characters like Zoro, and they are bored with seeing the same thing over and over again. While in USA, there are many casual fans that they don't know there are many other similar characters like Zoro and they think Zoro is unique or something.
As if Luffy ain't the stereotyped shonen manga mc? This argument makes no sense

After looking at quite a lot of threads in the forum Zoro seems to be more popular than luffy. This is rare for many other manga where MC is overshadowed by side character.

I have noticed Oda is more comfortable in drawing zoro , rarely see him getting mocked by opponents . Even with recent fan polls Zoro is massively popular in different continents.

What appeals fans that likes Zoro than law, kidd, luffy ? Just general question here ?
not really ...

one piece with Zoro as MC is not one piece ... it's whole other story and I doubt it be as good as current one piece

Zoro is Han Solo type of character ... he is far more useful as side kick, and his personality can't really lead us to a functioning story like one piece

Luffy is the best type of hero for a story like one piece and Zoro IS likeable cause he is one of sick-main-characters

sometimes less can effect us more

The thing with Luffy you sort of outgrow him, at least for me. Luffy used to be my favorite character but overtime that has dwindled down and he isn't anymore.

I think with Zoro he could manage to keep readers as they get older invested in him because there is always potential to write more nuanced stories or characterization with him, of course that's if Oda wanted to which he obviously doesn't given how he's neglected to explore much of Zoro's character post skip.

Luffy, Oda just want to keep him this generic joyful shounen character that will mostly always appeal to younger boys but as they grow there'll be that sense of tiredness and redundancy with his character.

Luffy never says anything interesting nor even do anything beyond the scope of what a quintessential shounen protagonist does. And when you have him for over a thousand chapters you get worn out a bit with him.

Also people saying Zoro would be less popular with Luffy's amount of panel time are having a laugh. Heck give Zoro just a third of Luffy's panel time and he'd crush him in popularity.

Zoro goes MIA for several arcs while Luffy get to shine and hog like 90% of panel time in the manga yet can't shake him off in popularity in Japan and beat him by a hair.

Internationally Zoro is more popular then Luffy. That global poll showed Zoro being more popular then Luffy in 5/8 regions globally despite the guy barely having a fifth of Luffy's panel time, glories and author's adoration.

It’s impossible to tell because the story would be really different. And Zoro character along the way was really influenced by Luffy so...

Some elements why we like Zoro :
- his Nothing happened moment
- him asking Mihawk for training
- captain Morgan moment and Zoro becoming a namaka guy while he was a lone wolf before
- him scolding Luffy and asking him to man up
- him saying Luffy will be the PK
- his relationship with the crew

etc

A lot of Zoro character is based on his adventure with Luffy.

So I don’t know the Zoro MC that you’re talking about. He is quite different than the Zoro you actually like

oda could Make Zoro and other SH's More Popular By Giving Them More Screen Time and Focus in Story and More Important Role in Arcs Story is Too Much Luffy Centric
legit every ark Luffy Will Over Shine Every Character By Large Margine
Honestly by Some Little Change Oda Could Let other Charcter Shine More i love WCI But Oda Could Make it Better buy Getting Some of Luffy's Shine And Give it To other For Example Luffy Could Still Defeat Kata But oda Could Let Sanji Defeat Cracker or Even Snack and let Cake Be more Effective (for Example make BM Pass Out for 1/2 Hour) it would fill more like sanji Centeric Ark , Let Other SH's Defeat Some Mid and Low Level Minsters (For Example let brook Fight Amande Nami Fight Galette and etc)
legit he Could at lest make luffy's injury More Serious after Fighting With Kata and Show Chopper Do some shit On Screen
one piece is a Battle Shounen manga so Fight are also Important.
or make Plot Line Envolved Other SH Be important or at least Complete them For Example nami and other Was Concerned About Toko but We See Them in Bath House and they Forget About Toko Completely
Make Other Sh Do Important Thing in Arks and Be more useful we Bearly see SH's Fight or Them Being Useful and do important Thing in Their
it also Would Help Luffy's Character More every ark Luffy Will most of Things and Will Defeat Main Enemy

It's possible. I did like Luffy as an MC for some time at the start of series....but his character doesn't seem special to me. His character itself doesn't have much to offer. I mean he doesn't even talk much for such a long series.
Right now I think Zoro is good as a secondary character. Zoro would fit as MC for a shounen. One piece in general has shit character tbh. So even he would suck as I think it's more on oda himself. But Zoro has at least made better quotes and taken stands, unlike Luffy who pretty much has only stupid repeated dialogues.

He would be as popular but not more. He would have had Luffy's panel time and some people just can't understand what being the MC mean so they would bitch about " One Piece turning to Zoro's show" at some point, they would scream asspulls at every power ups he gain, call everything plot plot no mi and shit.
They would call him edgy and cringe and bla bla bla every time he says something badass at the end of one chapter.

No guarantee honestly....There aren't many such popular main characters.
Even if you take Gutz from Berserk for example who is more dark is not that popular among fan base , same for Vangard MC.

And one shouldn't ignore and even try to deny the contribution of Luffy's character behind the success of One Piece . He is irreplaceable

Nah, Zoro wouldn't be as popular as rn if he be the mc. Zoro character traits is more suitable for secondary character especially for anime like One Piece.

It's easy to like Zoro coz he's is a definition of perfect character. He's badass, strong , mature, cool and loyal. He doesn't have any annoying traits like any other characters. No wonder why he's so popular. People just love cool characters.

But to be the mc, nah Luffy character is more suitable for One Piece theme. One Piece is about adventure and freedom. Luffy craziness bring all the fun in the story. It wont be One Piece without Luffy.

Me personally think it would be boring if Zoro be the mc coz he's too perfect. Like Oda once said perfect character is boring. Zoro character is more suited to be a mc for samurai theme anime than OP.

I think Luffy is the superior MC. He absolutely hysterical yet when I see him get serious it is amazing. I think Zoro is the perfect foil for a character like Luffy. We usually see him as cool and serious but he has great dork moments as well. Zoro does have a surprisingly lower panel time than other characters despite being around since nearly the beginning. I think that actually ends up being Zoro's strength. Zoro doesn't really need huge story development to be an impact full character. His character was developed from the beginning. He gets some of the best stand out moments in the serious. Too much of them would cause an oversatuation and exposure for his character. There are already a lot of people who seem to hate Zoro and see his character as boring.

Luffy's personality doesn't fit with a pirate world where historically cruelty reigned. His naive personality drew me in. Yet he unconsciously understands way more than people give him credit for. We are actually seeing the hero's journey with Luffy and that is why I think he is the stronger MC. If Luffy didn't have the SHs, then the manga wouldn't work as a whole.

Anyways I think there's a point to my post? I love both Luffy and Zoro but Luffy is One Piece.
