Do you think Oda avoids leaving Luffy out of an entire arc because he's worried it might hurt Luffy’s popularity and cost him the top spot?

Reminds me how oda didnt want shanks or zoro to surpass luffy in the first poll

Honestly, I’m still surprised that even after Sanji got a whole arc and character development, Zoro still ranked above him. Makes me wonder if Zoro ever got an arc focused entirely on his growth, could he actually surpass Luffy in popularity?

Sword swallower literally admitting that they read a story only if it panders to them is the funniest shit.
Literally "I need to have an edgy character so that the edgelords that only care about that will read".
:risitameh:
How about enjoying a story for it's content instead of fanservice?
Surprisingly people are enjoining the story more when the strawhat isn't involved
instead oda spamming luffy to us
why not use zoro character or other strawhat and development them ?

Also Edgy character shouldn't be laughed at when luffy the mc is another naruto lol

Seems to me that Luffy is the most liked character, so who are you talking about when you say "people"? Literally there has been no arc of One Piece where the strawhat isn't involved, are you talking about Two Piece?

Not developing strawhats is pathetic and biggest offence that Oda has committed, we agree on that.
Lol try again about the Naruto:
  1. Luffy came well before Naruto, and Goku is clearly the example they follow. So it's Goku -> Luffy -> Naruto.
  2. Naruto is a completely contradicting character saying that he's there to break the chain of prejudice and fate and yadda yadda, just to be the destined child inheritor of the god. Luffy never claimed any of those things, he always just wanted to do what he wanted. 120 volumes later, he's still doing the same thing.

it is true that I was forced to watch Luffy...When starting one piece I definitely did not watch for Luffy.. I would have dropped too if not for other characters and Nami/Arlong Park. And Mihawk was a Big Boost too.

I mean pre timeskip there was a solid 25 chapter span with no Luffy in it.

Literally half a year of publication went by without the protagonist of the story. And this was not long after that popularity poll sandman’s referring to.

Of course you only read a story if you like it/find enjoyable, dumbass. Nobody reads a story that they don't like. This is the most retarded thing I've seen today
Re read the full message, not that long it's literally 5 rows.
Hint, there is a difference between a story having content valuable to you and a story pandering to you, hence why i use the term fanservice

Oda (or his superiors) is probably worried about leaving Luffy out for too long because it may negatively impact volume sales since he's the main and most popular character.

So far, there have only been five volume covers where Luffy hasn't been featured: 21, 77, 87, 99, & 101.

Luffy is the Mc
Oda isn't interested in doing things that aren't related to him. Doesn't help that his editors or higher ups probably believe his appearance boosts sales to they want more panel time for him.
Zoro is the edgelord to bring in teenage edgy fanboys to the show as Oda mentioned. Nothing more. He's not mc.

Zoro has enormous appeal to losers that didn’t even peak in high school. :suresure:

Oda literary created zoro to attract all the brain dead retards to gather and focus on one place. This is a good strategy since he can develop his own story and other relevant characters without much of a problem. It's not like those retards reads the story as it is. They dnt have a single brain cell to understand a simple manga. To make OP popular you need to distract those retarded fans and guide their focus to a one place. Basically zoro was created for that very reason. While intellectual people focus on the story these retards can just focus on zoro and that's a win win situation for Oda himself. OP would never be this popular if zoro was a relevant character though
