It was strange anyway; why're you letting your opponent the opportunity to beat your ass completely when you can easily match Bound Man's strength with awakening anyway? And why didn't DD cover his awakened threats with hardening to improve his AP and durability against Bound Man?
There were many moments in which DD acted totally unrealistic: refuses to use hardening strings on an opponent who recently punched your ass across the effing city but then he wastes his hardening strings on fodders?
DD's awakening should be powerful enough to keep Bound Man easily at bay, on the first round. It's just the case that Oda handled DD's skills very poorly and gave the readers the impressions of DD being blueno'ed...
It's probably because Doffy is YC1 at the bare minimum (rather YC0.5) but he had to be introduced this early in the series because his fall was the key for all the future events.

You're disappointing me, comrade. Where's your other personality Raito? We were defending GOATakuri days and nights after all! How have you forgotten all of that?!

Don't worry, sooner or later GOATakuri will kick this failure of a Yonko off the throne and will lead the Katakuri pirates like it's supposed to be. And afterwards, he'll take King alongside the crew who will be his right hand man instead of Smoothie.
You King fans should be grateful that he'll get the role being Goatakuri's right hand man!

Coat his strings on his awakening ? Sound cool and effective but lets recall the duration of the fight which would have required a nice amount of Haki.
On the contrary fresh Kata had plenty of chances of killing him....but he opted to auto impale himself...
It’s not entirely unlikely that Katakuri can still be King’s YC3, below Queen and Jack. Just hard to see someone as outgoing as King tolerating an introvert like Katakuri.
Well, if King somehow survives this arc, we can always talk whether he joins the superior leader (GOATakuri) or actually decides being homeless. Jack and Queen have no chance joining Katakuri's mighty crew... On the other hand, they have Smoothie and Snack.
To be a character introduced half way into an arc with a billion characters, Katakuri is an amazing character and great foil. Doffy just has far more relevance to the plot and more lore

People really reading Two Piece if you think Katakuri's change was too sudden or even a real change
