I am, and our self-defence laws are atrocious. There have been many stories of burglars scaling drainage pipes, falling off and suing the house owner... so imagine how stupid our laws are regarding protection.
You can use self-defence for yourself or another here, but the amount of force has to be 'proportional'. However, for anybody who has seen or been in a real fight, you'll know that you can rarely gauge that in the moment.
The sad truth is that for an untrained man or woman the only way to ensure the threat cannot resurface is to knock the aggressor unconscious or kill them. If you are fighting a young or middle-aged man, you won't be able to simply pin him and wait for the police. So what happens in most of these cases is that the one who broke into your home and endangered you and your family's lives often sues you for thousands and you, the defender, end up in jail or, at the least, have a mark on your permanent criminal record which basically destroys you economically because good-luck getting a job after that.
I'd rather have the US' self-defence laws.

Depends on your perspective. I think having children broadens and enriches your life, but that is another matter.
Ultimately, self-defence laws are grossly in favour of the aggressor than the one doing the defending in my country, and many others on the European continent. I don't really know how we got to this point, but here we are I guess.

The people that adopt children/take care of poor kids during times like this are truly the best parts of nature/the universe, IMO.
The amount of adults that make kids "just because" is kind of revolting. Like, how many adults just make children because they felt like they were supposed to?

All that being said, my wife won’t let me buy a gun for several good reasons, so I guess I have no room to talk

I have never once regretted not having kids, and I don’t plan on bringing any new people into such a cruel and crumbling world…I ask my friends who have procreated how they handle the myriad dangers kids face everywhere, and to a person, they all tell me they’re constantly terrified of school shootings or a mandatory draft or microplastics in food, basically anything and everything that can ruin a child’s life or end it completely. The human race will always perpetuate itself, so there’s gonna be grist for the mill no matter what I do, but I highly advocate letting your bloodline die with you, the machine will keep running with or without it

You’re not wrong, but I am an untrained civilian staring down metaphorical and literal barrels from people who make it their duty to arm themselves to the teeth and lash out at anyone who doesn’t affirm their worldview, my existence is a drop in the bucket so it seems foolish to let some skinhead in Idaho take it away from me because I got too overzealous.
