Race is a social construct. Whiteness surged in The Americas in order to distinguish Europeans which had economic and political power from non Europeans (enslaved Africans, natives). When you talk about race it comes down to physical traits. Even if you go off that definition, you can’t possibly tell me an Iberian looks the same as someone from Russia or Germany. Physical traits are different no matter how you look at it. This guy just correlates lighter skin with being white. By that definition a lot of Persians and Turks are white, but I doubt he’d include them cause they aren’t of European decent. People of Iberian decent have similar physical traits. Olive skin, large noses, etc. Either way, race is still a social construct.

Ethnicity is about cultural identification.

Exactly, when we talk about race as a construct I at least assume there’s some sort of common gene pool right? This guy and I don’t originate from the same gene pool. whiteness has historically been used by Europeans as a way to feel superior and different from non Europeans, that doesn’t mean we’re all of the same race, that’s an incredible shallow way of looking at race and ethnicity. Now the US might classify “white” as a racial group, but that doesn’t mean it’s a race even by their own definition of it.

Croatia has 2 parts, coastal and inland, coastals are like Greeks and Italians while we inland ones are more german/slavic
