Race is a pseudoscientific concept that humans can be classified into separate and distinct races based off of physical characteristics.
Essentially, it’s this idea that humanity is like lord of the rings where black, white, and other racial groups are essentially like different species of human.
Race as a concept makes little sense. It was created hundreds of years ago by people who view very little about the world and needed a justification to exploit people who were different from them.

I feel like antisemitism is probably the biggest example of how dumb racism is.
Hitler believed that Jews were a distinct racial group from the so called Aryan Germans. However this makes absolutely no sense. Jews are an ethnoreligious group. You can be born into it, or you can join it, but just because one of your parents is Jewish doesn’t necessitate that you are.
But according to Hitler, if you had “Jew blood”, you were racially impure and a threat to the Aryan race and must be eliminated.
It was completely arbitrary, had no real logic, and just served as a flimsy rationale to justify the Nazi’s hatred of a minority group.
And that’s basically how all racism works.

Race. Because American society is defined by race.
It’s the reason why “White American” and “Black American” are ethnic groups in the USA. Other countries don’t define people this way.
Ex. People in india have a variety of different appearances. A person from Kerala often has dark skin. Those from Kashmir often have light skin. But they identify as Malayali and Kashmiri, respectively. Their identities aren’t tied to their appearance.
