It would make no sense for him to be evil after we saw his pathetic fleet. Who raise shanks flag so he’d protect them.
I will be really shocked. Everything points out to Shanks being a typical shonen good guy, a classic idol archetype
Evil i agree with, its too farfetched, but saying he's a typical shonen good guy is silly when you frame some of the shit he does. We have little, if any, examples of Shonen good guys:
- Talking to a major enemy in isolation (hes hiding his presence)
- Setting the destiny the MC is on by giving him his devil fruit, setting a specific course of events and influencing him (in most good vs. evil stories, this is arguably the villain i.e. Vader, Voldemort, Aizen/Ywach, Madara due to Nine Tails, Griffith, etc)
- Making weird ass faces when he talks about Luffy or One Piece
- Is extremely brutal in nature when it comes to fighting his enemies
- Has been very open about going after one of Luffy's subordinates
- Probably the most enigmatic character in the series: we have zero idea what he wants.
- Finally, is just not close to being matched when it comes to his Haki portrayal onscreen. No current villain or protagonist has shown anything similar, and usually direct "good guys" are never this powerful outside of the MC.
So either Oda has drawn the most unorthodox "good" character in the history of storytelling, or there actually is something up with Shanks. Otherwise, Oda wouldnt do any of the above if he's just a normal good dude.
