Future Events If Luffy surpass / beat Kaidou decisively, is One Piece still exciting?

If the battle against the Navy will be so one sided and Luffy will utterly humiliate Akainu then what's the point of building the admirals as something whoever wants to become Pirate King must overcome (as in a challenge) or having Luffy himself talk about not running away from both admirals and emperors. Wouldn't that be empty in terms of storytelling if they are meant to be nobodies?
They aren't nobodies! The Admirals/Navy won the battle against Whitbeard a.k.a the WSM. They have killed Ace a.k.a Roger's [PK] son. The Navy has won every significant battle it fought so far, they're already an established superpower in one piece world.

The fight against the Navy is mostly symbolic, the next time Luffy and Akainu meet Luffy will do to Akainu what Akainu did to him in Marinford: crash him.

Agree. That should be a one-sided beatdown and a payback for Ace.

Mihawk isnt that hyped... shanks is though
Honestly, the only evidence Shanks has to be stronger than Mihawk is his unparalleled hype. This is why he's a fan favourite and Mihawk isn't (whoever believes that Mihawk is more popular in the community is just lying to himself lol). I mean Oda made Mihawk clash with Vista in the war even if it wasn't a serious clash and at the same time when Shanks interfered, the War fucking ended. I'm still a believer of Mihawk > Shanks with all the info we know as it makes more sense but you can't say that Shanks' portrayal isn't on another league.

cheating Marians who will be scared as fuck and will use any derty tricks to make the fight even.
That's just pure headcanon, lol.

As if they weren't scared of half dead Whitbeard while his son was a hostage against him lol. But whatever pal...

Luffy ain't fighting Akainu imo. He'll be too strong for him. At most, they'll have a little squabble before his real opponent gets there. I still believe that Sabo will be the one fighting Akainu.

Basically i want to know your opinions about the impact of, if, Luffy really surpassing / beating Kaidou in this arc's last battle.
If Luffy DOESN'T how is the story supposed to go on? The versus Yonko saga is about taking down the Yonko. As much of a bunch of asspulls Oda will need for that, he is definitely going to make Luffy succeed against Kaido.
When, if not now, is Oda going to start making Luffy the pirate king candidate that he needs to be in order to achieve his goal eos?

How do you think Oda will maintain tension and excitement for arc bosses after this?
What tension and excitement? We all know that Luffy is going to become pirate king eos. It's the how and when, not the if.

Or will he get rid of that underdog vibe altogether and make Luffy and his crew a legit threat even to the next arc bosses and the enemy armies?
Of course. Keeping the shs' underdog vibe until right before eos would make Luffy's success in the end look even more unrealistic.
People would complain even more about 'bad writing' and 'asspulls' and 'Oda rushed the enging he should have spent more time making the SHs' success more believable'.

maybe trying to dish out forms of excitement other than powerscaling? like plot twists and reveals, more of history and lore strategic wars, technological incorporatio
Eos is very obviously going to be about void century reveals, wg, revos, the role of special grouos like sword and cp0.
Powerscaling has never been One Piece's forte. It's only the fandom getting at each other's throats in endless powerlevel debates.
self-reflection stuff while battling like Vagabond, mind games like HxH?
These two are less likely imo

Killer said, kaido is the wsc.
"People" say kaido is the wsc.
In Ace novel it was hinted that kaido is the wsc(stronger than old sick whitebeard and equal to big mom in physical strength but harder to be killed).
Zoro wanted to slain kaido bc he is the wsc.
Big mom said kaido is a monster.
Blackbeard stated that kaido is a monster.
Donflamingo who wasnt scared of anyone, was terrified of kaido.
Oda himself stated in an interview that kaido is the strongest.
Highest pirate bounty.
Strongest zoan devil fruit.
Advanced haki, super strength, toughest skin in the world.

Yet people still claim that he is not the strongest. Unbelievable.

It'll be more exciting cause for the first time we will focus on story and plot more than be driven by power scaling to determine what will happen in future

Also cause Oda will not have to nerf opponents in illogical way like Big Mom just to prevent a disaster

Lastly cause Blackbeard has ability to surpass current yonko and nerf Luffy from his DF

And because Imu-sama potentially can be strongest ever being behind the shadows

So two characters are potentially still higher than Luffy will be confronted

Well,Kaido has fought the 9 sccabards,5 Supernova and is now fighting Luffy 1 vs 1!Luffy defeating him now wouldn't count as a solo victory so the tension for future top tiers is still there!Kaido fought in a very arrogant way in the beginning, tanking unecessary hits just to see if they could hurt him!Had he fought seriously from the beginning, Luffy and Everyone would be dead by now(plot convenience)!
Black Beard is going to be insane strong and he is a bad match up for anyone that relies too much ons his DF(luffy for example)!
Sakazuki has the most lethal devil fruit stated by Oda!Logias can avoid haki infused hits if they have good enough coo!
Shanks seems to be an overall haki master, physical beast and exceptional swordsman(bad match up for luffy)!
Other Straw hats will have to face Admirals and they are not at their level yet!
Shiki and Rocks can make a comeback and they will have something insane up their sleeve!
Imu is a complete mystery,he could be a Spandam type of villain or Strongest Character in the Verse!
Luffy still need to completely master his new advanced forms of haki, his g4 and awaken his devil fruit! And physically he is not in his prime yet(just 19 years old)!
Also, after seeing Luffy struggle in all fights along the series,it would feel very satisfying seeing him totally dominate his opponents EOS!

Why shouldnt it be? First of all, like i always said, powerscaling is not right to do in One Piece because there are different powers that can work differently from character to character, its not like Dragon Ball. Also, people want to know all the secrets about the story, the Void Century, what the One Piece is,who's Im-Sama,why Blackbeard has two fruits etc. One Piece never was only about the fights!

I HIGHLY disagree. Akainu is not and will never be Sabo's fight. He doesn't deserve it. That's Luffy's fight 10 billion percent.
Luffy did his damnest to save Ace only for Akainu to take him away from him. Who scarred Luffy? Akainu. Luffy feels pain in his scar at the mention of Akainu. This is one fight that Luffy has to have.

I don't know, it will depend on how Oda will treat her characters, but apparently, it won't be as "exciting". Oda can save the arc with a few fights, but if it's just Luffy vs Katakuri 2.0, how angry people will be.

Even if luffy beat kaido 1v1 it's not like he did it 2 a fresh kaido, fresh kaido v fresh luffy kaido wins no doubt luffy still has to grow 2 the point where he can dance with a fresh yonko without help, so after this fight he'll be almost yonko level so the future crew would still be exciting:steef: plus i believe shanks 2 be stronger in different area's from kaido, BB and his crew will be even stronger than kaido or shanks will still have admirals 2 deal with so yeah it dont never drop but rise to be even more than wat it is now

Basically i want to know your opinions about the impact of, if, Luffy really surpassing / beating Kaidou in this arc's last battle.

- Will One Piece still be exciting for you? How so?

- How do you think Oda will maintain tension and excitement for arc bosses after this? Will he keep the underdog vibe from Luffy? Haki depletion, making dumb mistakes, coughing blood from Bellamy's punch, etc?

- Or will he get rid of that underdog vibe altogether and make Luffy and his crew a legit threat even to the next arc bosses and the enemy armies? And maybe trying to dish out forms of excitement other than powerscaling? like plot twists and reveals, more of history and lore strategic wars, technological incorporation, self-reflection stuff while battling like Vagabond, mind games like HxH?

- Do you think Oda will succeed in his execution of maintaining reading excitement?

Imo powerscaling-wise it will be fine even if Luffy beat Kaidou by surpassing him. Since BB is getting even stronger, there is Imu, and i want to really enjoy Luffy's pay off to the OP world as someone strong and really recognized by WG and the top dogs. Like after those underdog humiliations and mistakes, its time to show what he has become, that kind of vibe.

And story-wise it will be even better. Being strong enough to fight the other Emperors or Admirals as equals, should grant Oda new views in storytelling, new possibilities and perspectives. Explore the Strawhat's thought more, explore their opponents' thought more, more diversification in presenting the story, for Oda to try out new things other than repetitive "i will surpass you since you take away Nami's/Rebecca's/Shirahoshi's/Tama's food" .

What do you think?
No

Luffy is not defeating Kaido this raid
he is for sure since it is the night of full moon, he has enough time to grow till he can defeat Kaido. those who think the raid would fail are ignoring the fact that the night of the full moon has importance.
Luffy is right now in his base form and can withstand Kaido's attacks even Law decide to let him handle it right now.
Luffy is doing better against Kaido right now then he was doing against Katakuri and there always still his transformation G3 , G4 and maybe even a new gear G5.
against Katakuri for 3 hours he could not land any punch. he is doing much better against Kaido.

Not gonna be exciting, when luffy is already a Yonkou level by his strength alone.. but, i think luffy wont defeat Kaido alone. Alright, Luffy has the same strength as Kaido but only keep up for a day while Yonkou/admiral can do > 5 days in top tier condition.

One piece is still going to be exciting if somebody join Luffy before his haki run out. Oda should put an asspull powerup in between wano arc and next arc, but not in this arc.
