Why oda didn't even let sanji help marco against calamities in chapter 1000. Wouldn't you fans love to see sanji doing so in such big milestone chapter?
But oda didn't do that. I am damn sure getting trapped with Black Maria is just oda's way to divert sanji from not helping marco.
And, this isn't the first time. This trend has become more apparent since Time skip and since we entered into yonkou saga
We can argue against the trend but it's basically our wishes

Most probably. I really used to and still think that they were about equal until the timeskip. Like if Zoro was a 100, Sanjii was 99/98. But now, Oda has been focusing less of Sanji strength-wise. This is not to say that he has been focusing on Zoro a lot more but it's just that his portrayal has strengthened further. Especially after his training with Mihawk. Still, I don't think that Zoro is as much stronger than Sanji as most Zoro stans here think.
My current ranking is- Luffy 100, Zoro 90, Sanji 80 or something around that. But I'll finalize it only after Wano is over as currently, we don't have a lot to compare them other than portrayal and this raid will give us a lot of feats for both characters.

Basically you wanted to see Sanji helping Zoro to reach the rooftop and stay behind.

Marco was taking zoro to the roof.
Two YCs were there to stop him.
We had no prior concrete evidence of queen being cyborg for sure.
Sanji could have stepped in to stop queen in chapter 1000.
Marco could have handles king while takin zoro to the roof.
But what we got is sanji getting occupied with Black Maria while Marco handling both YCs.

Zoro fighting kaido. That's done deal. You can argue whatever you want but evidences are too strong in this favor which we have consistently put forward and you all brushed aside but oda is delivering on it

Oda will shuffle things into place so that he fights King and does that by the end of the arc.
We're of a flying island against characters that can fly around or launch you across islands, just because some characters have stacked up at one place at some point it does not meant that they are stuck there until the end of the arc.
