Character Discussion Is Zoro equal to Luffy in both portrayal and strength wise

Zoro has proven to be more potent than Luffy.
Luffy failed to sustain G4 long enough to damage Base Kaido consistently after providing some damage. And overall Big Mom hadn't attained much to stop him. If not Zoro had made sure of that.
Zoro on the other hand had almost scarred Kaido but the old lady put herself in the middle.
If the 2 fought we would see Zoro capable to swiftly hit Luffy's Boundman which is not even as fast as Kaido and Zoro bears better AP and endurance, as well as stamina than Luffy. Luffy bears better durability and that's about it. Both are flexible fighters.
If he augments speed via Snakeman he loses power.
Zoro can decidedly overcome FS btw.

Well, anyway back on topic. Luffy is a bit stronger than Zoro, but Zoro isn't that far away. As the story reaches end game that gap will close even more so that they are pretty much equals imo. All these parallels that people try to draw to other Yonko groups about Yonko >> YC1 do not work for the straw hats. You forget that this is a shonen and the straw hats are the crew of the MC destined to flip the entire One Piece world structure on its head. Being equal to a Yonko crew won't cut it, they need to surpass them so they can make a change.

Zoro is a cool character and one of the main buddys of the protagonist, but the story is about how Luffy find friends, rise to the top and become the strongest pirate, becoming even bigger than legends like Roger and WB, of course Zoro will be one of the strongest by the end of the series, and will be able to fight alongside Luffy, and there's no problem in having he as your favorite character, but you guys are becoming obessesed with this subject of powerscale, every day there's a bunch of topics created to say the same thing on this. Of course Zoro character was created to be the second strong of the crew that will stand together with Luffy in fights.
With this behavior you guys are becoming the One Piece version of the Uchiha fans, that transform anything in a childsh monologue 'bout how their favorite character is the strongest, and that if someone say anything different you become triggered and insecure. Its kind of sad.

"Zoro's that strong and not even the captain" is a phrase spoken by people who have no idea how strong the characters actually are, so it's not an assessment. That's a rough paraphrase anyway.
The paraphrase of what he said at FI is just wrong though. He mentioned Conqueror's Haki and that's absolutely not the same as strength. As of now we don't even know that he doesn't possess it too. But Zoro would bet on beating Doflamingo and low diff Chinjao. By merit of hurting Kaido we know he's at least on par with Kidd and where Ace was. That's four conquerors, so it's not like that ability says anything about being stronger than Zoro.
Luffy > Zoro is definitely a fair belief based on many things, but it's really taken for granted. The simplest way to put it for me: Oda makes Luffy a buffoon to create a story where he doesn't just mow down enemies with his resolve and skill set. Oda writes Zoro as lost or inconvenienced to create the same story, where he doesn't mow down enemies with his resolve and skill set on top of not being a buffoon. After all, this guy will take a Daz instead of a Crocodile, but manage to win without literally being pulled from the dirt or given an antidote to make it out of the first round.

None of which are true, Oda explicitly numerated this with Kaku and Lucci, but they still have to go back to a non serious fight in chapter 100.
