Kizaru obviously was trying as many said but Rayleigh even in old age is still a monster in his own right and held his own. Neither went all out there so the Awakening argument for Kizaru is kind of moot.
It will be interesting to see a rematch between KKizaru and Postskip Rayleigh, training Luffy for 1.5 years should have helped him gain back much of his lost stamina.

Didn't say anything about getting on his knees like a dog. But he did ask Rayleigh to leave him alone and stay out of his way.
