Itachi was holding back yes. Allowing sasuke to win and simply pressuring him throughout the whole fight. That was the narrative.

I reread Naruto back in January was quickly reminded why it went to shit in Shippuden lol. So many plot holes. Shippuden started off so good man..

Also, Killer Bee escaped Amaterasu with a simple substitution. Itachi was always the most overrated character.

True! Shippuduen can't hold a even a small Gwyneth Paltrow vagina scented candle to the original series. Original Naruto had a more grounded feel, more suspense, and a more believable story. Shippuden started "ok" at best but eventually devolved into dumb cunts throwing nuclear bombs at each other again and again.

I'll always be grateful to kishimoto fit making this happen^. Waiting for 8 gates Gai was agony ironically but absolutely worth it.

I used the clip from ninja storm as they made it much better there, especially with the awesome anime's music too ofc.

I also love this version:

All Might and Deku were definitely inspired by Gai-gachad and The Rock Lee. Seeing All Might vs the Nomu gave me that similar level of hype and fanboy admiration as Gai and Lees amazing writing (pre TS especially) but also the hilariously epic Gai vs Kisame fights and 8 gates, god of taijutsu and completely self made man Gai vs Madara most of all ofc.

Kishimoto really capture that epic Bruce Lee and maybe Jackie Chan and Jet Li spirit too.
