@Haoshoku @RobertoTheOharaSurvivor @Nidai_Kitetsu @ZenZu Now that LeBron and Embiid are out for a bit, who do y'all think is the MVP right now that's playing? Dame? Jokic? Luka?
It’s between Dame and Jokic. If I had to choose I would go with Jokic, the Mavs could go on a run though since its looking like they got an easier schedule remaining which would help Luka’s case, but not enough to win it or leapfrog the other two.
People would want to vote Dame because of narrative. But it will not be easy for him as his team is currently 6th. I think it only happened twice in the history of NBA where anybody below 5th seed won the MVP. Russ was the last one, but lets be honest, his case was really exceptional. The triple double was definitely a big factor. But more important was people wanted to punish KD, and showing love to Russ was probably the next best thing they could do. Dame will get love from the voters, but not upto that level. Right now, Harden is my bet.
Denver and Portland are tied for 5th currently, and both are 2.5 games out for the 3rd seed. And the Lakers are for sure going to fall out of the top 3, and either one of Portland or Denver has a good chance of ending up with the 4th seed and they could aim even higher. So record-wise there isn’t anything hindering Dame’s case, that could even be said for Luka to a lesser degree. The standings are still far from complete.

Harden is putting up MVP like numbers but he isn’t going to get the votes playing on a team with Kyrie and KD. Earlier in the season KD had a MVP case as well but it dwindled after they added Harden. KD got injured as well but they would have just canceled each other out even if he didn’t go down.
True. Forgot to mention Harden. I just don't know how much will his exit from HOU ruin his MVP chances. I also forgot to mention Giannis as well. His team could still have the best record in the East and he's putting up his usual numbers once again but I don't know much the MVP fatigue will factor in since he's won it back to back (I'd assume it would be a lot).
Giannis is definitely getting voter fatigue, especially with how they’ve gone out in the post season for the last 2 years lol.

Right, team change hurts Harden's case. The issue is none of the other legit candidates' have teams in top 4. This is an odd year for MVP.

nba trade deadline is happening soon, a lot of teams are apparently being sellers right now (Toronto, Orlando and now Indiana for example). With that in mind, who do you think is gonna be moved by Thursday?

Personally I hope the Knicks nab Norman Powell or Evan Fournier, even if both are expirings. It'd basically be a look at both guys before we consider giving them a deal in the offseason (especially if we make the playoffs)

Probably nothing big is going to happen unless Toronto trades Lowry. After that you’re looking at Aaron Gordon and that’s pretty much it. The Hawks probably won’t trade Collins since they’ve been winning, @Jiihad what do you think about the Collins trade rumor stuff? I think yall should keep him.

it's also been reported the Spurs are looking to trade away Aldridge and Derozan (Lyles too interestingly enough)

Indiana may be trying to rebuild if they're trying to offer teams Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon and Myles Turner (Aaron Holiday too)

Miami if they finally decide to bite the bullet (they will down the line really regret not trying to give up Herro/Robinson/Nunn/etc for Harden) will probably try to trade away Dragic, Robinson, Herro, Achiuwa, if they're trying to make a serious finals run

a lot may happen in the next 2 days tbh

Forgot about Aldridge tbh with you, that’s how much I care about the Spurs lol

I’m not sure if a small marktet team like Indiana would prefer to rebuild, they got a really solid core at full health. Tho they could trade Myles.

Miami might get Lowry or someone else but I doubt they would trade Herro, that would would have happened with a guy like Harden on table but not for anyone on the market right now. Herro is that good. Unless the Wizards are offering Beal.

Indiana as much as I hate them for eliminating the Knicks in 2013 haven't been good since 2014, and recently they've been eliminated from the 1st Round 4 years in a row with the same core more or less (Brogdon came last season but is pretty much one of their top scorers now). By now the Pacers have probably realized that even if they make the playoffs w/ Levert (and Warren), they're at best a 1st round team again. They'll need to get or draft a superstar to make any push back to contention again in the East. Will be interesting to see what they do though, atm they have the talent to compete but not quite beat the top teams in the NBA (

Miami also really messed up not offering a higher contract to Crowder, his impact was huge for them last year. Herro has kinda cooled off after a decent start to the season (with Jimmy out at the start), all of his shooting stats are down and he's starting to grow the reputation of a chucker (like JR Smith sometimes), so Miami has felt like they need to get a bonafide scorer to make another serious run (aka they're 100% in win now mode). Robinson is still a great shooter, but the big weakness for catch and shoot players like him is that if there's a good enough gameplan and defensive execution by the opposing team to limit his touches, he essentially becomes kinda useless and basically never scores enough. Also of note Robinson is a RFA after this season, so Miami may not want to keep him if he demands too much.

In the Knicks 2 games against the Heat, we lost because of Butler and Adebayo but we were able to keep Robinson below 10 points in both games, and we never felt like he was a threat at all);

I wanna keep em, but ion know if he wanna stay that’s tha thing. He already turned down 90mill. But I’m extremely against trading a Top 5 young big in tha league

He wants to get paid the max, if gets a max he will stay and the Hawks can pay him the most money iirc. The Hawks front office will probably be forced to do it if they want to keep him. Collins might not be fully worth a max but so many other players not fully deserving got it as well and Collins is only 23.

What about Oladipo? I'm pretty sure he's gonna get traded soon. Turned down an extension from HOU.

Yea, they had this as a probe it year. But I’m jus hoping that he ain’t take it tha wrong way and is on some “fuck y’all” type of shit

Nah, dude def worth tha max lol. He’s a legitimate 20ppg and 10rpg 6’10 big man. Who shoots 40% from 3 and can bang and score from tha post and he hustles and this year has shown that he can block shots and defend. Pay that man

Apparently, it comes down to the Heat, Sixers, and Lakers(?) for Kyle Lowry. I want him to go to Philly but I feel like Miami is gonna get him.

Hope shit is exciting in 5 hours. It's already starting.

That's actually a steal. He's pretty good when I watch some Magic games.

fuck we were trying to go after Fournier :(

Leon Rose what u be doin rn :josad:

if we can't get either Lonzo Ball or Norman Powell, we're basically gonna be missing the playoffs this season again

Honestly, Lonzo is one of the few players I don't see moving but I might be dead wrong in a bit. Powell is reasonable though.

They have a better Jerami Grant now. I really like Gordon.

@RobertoTheOharaSurvivor Not sure he's the wing you were looking for...

yeah if we don't get Lonzo NOW, we're bout to get absolutely fleeced in the trade deadline.

Boston and Chicago just added scoring help/depth in a matter of hours (Powell just got sent to Portland too which REALLY hurts) and all we have to show for it right now is Terrance Feguson and Vincent Poirier, who will see 0 minutes in our current rotation. Leon Rose better do something soon cause if this is the reason why we end missing the playoffs, I'll be so fucking furious especially if it wastes Randle and RJ's improved season efforts

and if you are wondering @Noyman
yes I'm in panic mode rn as a Knicks fan

What do you think about Lowry? I remember when he almost went to the Knicks like 6 years ago. I do get that he's old now though.

I prefer Rondo over Lou Will anyday in the playoffs.

@RobertoTheOharaSurvivor It's been too quiet for Lonzo at this point...

It looks like they're opening up roster spots for a Lowry trade late in this deadline.

@RobertoTheOharaSurvivor I'm sorry, man...
