If you think about the enemies the strawhat crew will encounter soon, Yamato clearly is the much better choice.

Also why even Yamato knows Ace and knows the strawhat crew and sees Luffy as the next pirate king? Why Oda made her with all that stuff if she will stay in Wano or will be irrelevant soon because not joining?

Soon her tragic past will come too dont worry

Yeah, Yamato is definitely being set up to be a Strawhat. I'm much more confident in her than I am in Carrot.

In terms Black Maria she might be the same race as Yamato. According one of the latest volume that came out she at least one year older than Yamato. I can imagine some weird thing Black Maria might possible be yamato step mother or something.

That’s why I said word “step mother” a step mother doesn’t have necessarily be older it could same as age your daughter and possible younger. Black Maria flirting with Kaido direction didn’t want go after Yamato it’s possible there might something there but who knows.

But that would imply that Black Maria is actually married to Kaido, which does not seem to be the case. I think it's entirely possible Yamato's mother will simply never be brought up, kind of like Luffy.

I would concur here. Kaido does not strike like the man who would marry someone unless procuring a specific profit.

I think Yamato’s mother could be shown in flashback or mention. In terms how she died maybe she died during child birth or may have been killed by random person or something.

I would say all of the ones you marked as "can be pro or con" are straight up pros except the last one.

Nothing is "too strong" for the crew except if someone is better than Luffy and it already happened when Zoro and Robin joined...

Well, at least Yamato levels the plain moving story forward against upcoming threats. I mean jinbei was facing against big mom on the thousand sunny. While luffy was fighting against katkruai and sanji was making cake. For me having powerful force can protect the other characters against strong opponent. Since we are strongest sea in series it make sense at least have two forms of strong back up behind you. Just in case the other characters are occupied with something else.

I agree... Even Roger recruited Oden even though their crew was very formidable prior to Laugh Tale... Now, it's the opposite for the SHs, they need Yamato's power more than her skills...

BMa and Yamatonare of same age. Her flirtations attitude is more to how oda wrote her character like how she wacted with sanji too.
