Roger needed Oden because he was necessary to translate the Poenglyphs because that was his role on the Oro Jackson...which is what Robin does right now. It's what helped him get to Laugh Tale, discover the One Piece, and become the Pirate King. Roger begged Whitebeard to have Oden not for his strength, but for his selfish goal of becoming the Pirate King. Oden was just compelled to help him and had his own curiosity to it.
A lot of you guys need to actually read the Oden flashback. There's a lot of lore in the series I feel this thread tends to overlook.

We get that. Were talking about when Kaido is defeated or dead. The enemies there going face are going lot stronger than previous one. Right now outside wano the warlord system has already been abolish. When the world government finds out luffy and his alliance are responsible for taking down Kaido. It’s obviously him and his crew are going have a higher bounty on there heads. The enemies there going to face are going much stronger than previous one. So, why not take someone that can level plain moving story forward to that direction so they can be better prepared for enemies that lies ahead. It does relate to one of luffy’s other goals to gather crew on that they can surpass shanks.

Straw Hat Pirates' quantity is mostly a disadvantage, however they compensate it by having quality.
This is why I like & prefer Yamato joining, she can make the crew be truly worthy of Pirate King class/level. Only this way Luffy crew can surpass Shanks crew (his ch 1 promise to Shanks).
That very same reason is why I don't think Carrot joining, we haven't seen one unique skill of hers that are very high tier.

Exactly, the biggest highlight that carrot has ever given to us. In the story so far Is her suslong transformation. According to the virve card she is the only one of minks that has mastered suslong at a young age. The only way she can reach that form is when the moon is full. When using the transformation there is a time limit and it also taxes the body. The moon is full once mouth. Once the ability is over she will need to rest for a while. Even in her base form seeing her go against some of big mom’s family and Big mom herself. She did struggle when dealing with them in her base form. In suslong transformation the only thing she did is dodge and outmaneuver daikfu’s slashes. Right now, she getting assistance from Wanda against perospero. In order finish the job what pedro started. Maybe this is just me Nitpicking on her but it does appears she needs assistance in order win against these battles. Rather than doing things on her own. She is not character who can stand alone without aid others to help in her situations. Perdo, does say she is strong fighter but that is very vague and hard figure out in terms how strong she is in base form.
As we see from Yamato in terms of presentations in the story so far she kind the opposite. As well is she hiding great deal of her powers especially that moment before, Franky show up. The moment I am referring to when we saw her growing sharp teeth and even growling. Whatever, that transformation is might be more powerful from what we are seeing from her right now.

One thing people might forget why there are several numbers of Nami-clone and Robin-clone as main supporting cast (Vivi, Rebecca, etc) are:
- Those faces are the one Oda most familiar with/draw the most often
- Those faces are proven to be popular with fans
This is why Oda resorted to the nami/robin template, because it gives the best result and "fans-proof".
