Oda is trolling us. He wants us to believe Yamato will join but he will make her die. Kaido will kill her becoming more villain than ever! Or maybe he will kill her by accident, anyway i think she could die.

nope , Ace made a promise with her like with Tama , Luffy is gonna fulfill those promises. If she dies , Luffy cannot fulfill the promise of his brother.

Did he promised her to come back and take her? By the way it would still is all elements Oda puts to troll us,like i said earlier. Yamato is the perfect nakama candidate.... too perfect!

FORCED PARALLEL TIME

If we see Carrot as the second New World recruit, we can apply third recruit (Usopp, Franky) parallels to Yamato.

These parallels are noticed by several Wikia editors, not me. Credit is on them, check SHP page on wiki.

- They also go by a different name (Sogeking, Cutty Flam, Oden)
- They were first introduced accompanied by their "subordinates" (Usopp Pirates . Franky Family, Beast Pirates)
- They fought/briefly clashed with Luffy
- They were introduced in an arc where there is a plot of the main antagonist to kill a friend of them (Kaya, Iceburg, Momonosuke)
- They are child of pirates
- They have dreams consisting in a process rather than a specific goal
- They fight with weapons
- They have/can do powerful ranged attacks

If we list Yamato as 2nd recruit of the sea region ( Nami Robin) :

1. Introduce themselves on higher elevation while looking below at Luffy
- Nami : roof
- Robin : railing of the Going Merry
- Yamato : ceiling (and she's taller)
2. They needed to convince Luffy to join first
- Nami : ask to partner
- Robin : invite herself in
- Yamato : request to board the ship
3. They're related to other crews who is the main antagonist of an arc
- Nami : Arlong Pirates
- Robin : Baroque Works
- Yamato : Beast Pirates
4. They experienced a great conflict at a young age related to their hometown
- Nami : village domination
- Robin : Ohara incident
- Yamato : Wano coup
5. Luffy helps overcome their burden related to their past
- Nami : wrecks her maps & defeating Arlong
- Robin : survived Buster Call & declares war against World Government
- Yamato : destroy her shackles & defeating Kaido
6. Their dreams are inspired/related by paper-based work
- Nami : maps
- Robin : books
- Yamato : journal
7. Their dreams require them to explore the world
- Nami : draws world maps
- Robin : searching for Poneg & true history
- Yamato : going out & experience the outside world
8. Linked to the concept of freedom & liberation
- Nami : freeing the village out of invader's occupation
- Robin : dubbed as the Light of Revolution
- Yamato : free herself from her caged life & opening Wano's border

For your sake and mine, I’m gonna pretend I don’t know what that means. Regardless, I didn’t pick which of the two I like better based on looks - I think Carrot is an intriguing character, I think Yamato is far more interesting and has more potential in terms of the story, and none of that has anything to do with whether or not my dick twitches when I see them :beckmoji:
I'm a simple man, side boobs >>>>.

Her "armor" is the excitement for the masses (Colosseum viewers), the sex appeal.
Anyway, black lightning and Yamato's two attacks. If, she has CoC, unlocked it, and able to use it, will this be a good point for her chance, or nay?
COC has no bearing on her chances of joining the crew IMO.

Y'all want a very powerful crewmember on the team sm but don't forget that such a character might steal a lot of spotlight from the already existing Straw hats, especially from those who already struggle with their popularity like Brook, Franky or Jimbe... I'm just trying to look at it through the writing perspective, a new crew member having very impressive power feats could be a reason Oda won't go for someone batsh*t strong like Yamato. If she has a CoC it's another reason for her not joining in my opinion, it messes up with the power balance on the crew. Like, we've waited for so long for someone to have a CoC besides Luffy, finally Zoro unlocked it -Yay!- and then just... here, have another one Conqueror on the team right away? Seems cheap to me. So if you're on Yamato train she better not to have it lol. And if she fights Kaido... I bet she 100% has it to be able to scratch him at least.
Anyway, whoever joins I believe Vivi is the the third and the last one female crewmember.
If not? Probably Carrot, then. Not because I like her, but because she'd blend in nicely but won't "steal" anything from anyone in terms of screentime/development and I totally okay with with it.
This sounds like reasons that you don't want Yamato to join, not reasons that would actually prevent her from joining.

In the first place, why would Oda care about Yamato displacing someone like Brook in popularity?

Shortly after her introduction she made it to the top ten in the recent character popularity poll. She's already far more popular than most of the Strawhats. Displacing the least popular Strawhats is so weird as a reason for her not to join.

Why would unpopular characters be more likely to join than one of the most popular characters?
:choppawhat:

On thread:
My only worry regarding Yamato joining is that she may be too strong and threaten the M3 hierarchy (see Jimbe not actually joining until after Sanji got the Raid Suit, it's as if Oda was unwilling to displace Sanji as #3 Strawhat). I'm worried that Yamato would be stronger than Sanji and may remain that way till EOS.
Yamato's Potential:
  • She's Kaido's only daughter.
  • Kaido taught her his fighting style.
  • Kaido sought to make her Shogun (this might indicate that he holds her combat ability in high regard).
Yamato's Portrayal:
  • While holding back (and without the use of her DF ability), she could stalemate Ace
  • Ace regarded her as strong
  • While holding back (and without the use of her DF ability), she could stalemate G2/G3 Luffy
  • Luffy regarded her as strong
  • Her Devil Fruit seems to be considerably powerful given how spooked Sasaki was at seeing her transform.

I'm not sure how strong current Yamato is, but I would guess that she's at worst slightly weaker than Jack (given her interactions with Sasaki and Ulti, Yamato appears to be above the Tobi Roppo even without relying on her DF abilities) and at best slightly stronger than King (there's not much reason to expect her to be on the level of Chapter 1000 Luffy).

Considering her heritage, at EOS, I could see her becoming a Top Tier.

The above could just be my inner Yamato simp speaking.

In expectation, I would place current Yamato above Sanji, and it's hard to see that changing by EOS. However, Oda could make Sanji as strong as he desires though, so this isn't that strong a contention.

I'm curious what takes the other Yamato fans on here have.

Is this 'Jinbei will die 2.0?' hoping for a character to die so they won't join the crew? Is this what we have come to??

:seriously:

Unbelievable! Well thank god it ain't us fans writing One Piece, otherwise it will turn out worse than Naruto shitty fanfiction!

Nooooo... momo and nami's boobs are like bread and jam. Carrot and Luffy are like carrot and meat, they dont go well together
XD
More like water and oil... I can give you some dishes with carrot and meat, there are plenty in our country...

My only worry regarding Yamato joining is that she may be too strong and threaten the M3 hierarchy
As if this matters... M3 is long dead... Either we get ZSJ or we're getting a new trio with Sanji, Jinbe and Yamato... Luffy and Zoro are different beasts now...

I am one of the most fanatic Yamato fans around (I built a subreddit & discord server for her). Even then, I still think Sanji will be stronger than her. If not soon, then at least EoS.

One simple reason: investment. Author & fans alike are already invested on his character, no matter how cute & awesome Yamato be, Sanji will always be the 3rd.

See I'd love to believe this, but Oda specifically delayed Jimbe joining the crew until after Sanji got a massive power up. I don't think Oda intends to displace Sanji as #3.

Do you mind sharing the links?

I agree that it's true that Oda could make Sanji stronger by authorial fiat, but excluding such meta reasons, there aren't really narrative or portrayal reasons to expect Sanji to end up stronger than her.

What is the limit of the investment argument? Would this guarantee that if Law joined the crew he would become weaker than Sanji? What about for Ace? Is Sanji's position as #3 absolute.

Yamato's from the same generation as Ace (only a few years older than him). Both are the only biological children of the strongest pirates (for Ace, Roger and for Yamato, Kaido), and so should have similar innate potential. When Yamato actually fought Ace, she was able to match him without the use of her Devil Fruit and perhaps while holding back.

At least 4 years ago, Yamato was significantly stronger than Ace (assuming her Hybrid from grants a similar boost as her father's).

Given their similar potential and that Yamato has had two extra years to grow, she should also be significantly stronger than Ace at his death. A possible caveat is that Yamato was a prisoner on Onigashima while Ace grew strong over his many battles as a pirate. I think this has some merit, but not that much (Yamato may have fought against the other Beast Pirates. Either way, she knows Kaido's fighting style so received training from him directly).

Had a hypothetical Ace joined the Strawhats, would they end up weaker than Sanji?

Oda has an extremely bad track record with female characters (especially fighters, see Mama, Smoothie, etc.), so perhaps I'm being too optimistic to expect so much of her.

I would like her to join actually! But i like to theorize. You people should stop involve me in these kind of fights. I am not that kind of person! Sanji vs Zoro,Carrot vs Yamato,i dont care about any of these fights! I like to theorize by the way! And like i said,Yamato is really the perfect Nakama candidate...maybe too perfect? I find that suspicious, thats all.

Indeed Yamato is pretty good of a choice. We even bear a parallel with Oden which might be an hint if we paralleled the SHs with the Roger Pirates. A member joining later on that is paralleled with Oden.

All these many hints combined make me positive personally.

Agreed. I like theories as well, which is why I have this profile pic, because I want it to come true.
