We see Usopp be a sniper, not a look out.
Look out is a position that many people do. As nobody can do it 24/7. They need sleep and we have seen all strawhats do it. The ones most suitable would be usopp(good skill to see things far away and has a huge CoO reach), sanji has great CoO in general and Zoro does the lookout position often as well.
So in conclusion using Lookout as an argument in favor of Carrot is redundant. Carrot won’t join.

Say that to Oda who put Carrot in cahrage of this post for multiple chapters and 40+ drawings.. I will ignore those comment from now on.. Taking into account the night for a post and not the others in meaningless and irrelevant.

I've said it once before, but I think the reason Carrot tagged along in WCI was
1. To show off Sulong
2. To give the WCI gang someone to bounce off of while the rest of the crew was missing
Impossible. There were possibilities (as I explained weeks ago) to do that without Carrot. So Oda taking the time to develop an entire character (hundreds of interaction / hundreds of drawings) just for a revelation or a bounce off is non viable from a writing perspective. It's just doesn't make sence. Take that as a writer's take. It's just not possible, it's not viable.

Carrot was developped in whole cake as a prime character. When what was needed to do what you describe is just a background character like Pedro or Pekom. Again. THis development only make sence if Carrrot is setup to play a big role later in the story.

I'm gonna be completely honest with you here, this seems like cope

No. In fact this is one of my base of reasonning for the importance of Carrot in the story. Without that strange "development" I would not be as much of a defender for the CarrotForNakama theory.

As a writer, I placed myself at the place of Oda.. and developing Carrot like that doesn't really make sence for such small reason.

It "could" and I say """""could""""" be a question of caprice from Oda, but this would need to be a personnal reason (for example, a demand from one of his daughter to develop Carrot or something like that). This """""could""""" explain the difference of treatment between Wano and whole cake for Carrot.

But in my mind, the main reason is much more simple: Oda want Carrot to lay low to create a surprise at the end of Wano. He has done enough work with her, now.. she only needs to join and he will have a leeway to develop her more later.

Wait are u saying Pedro is a background character and Carrot is a main character in the WCI arc?

Yup completely. He indeed has a great impact but he is a background character.

But I understand that the term "background" is not really fit here, let's just say he is a side character, as background character are much less relevant than he was.

Pedro is a "stool" for Carrot's character and development but also for the minks and the story.

Pedro was more of a prime character than Carrot.

No. It's Carrot who was put in front, despite the suicide and despite the fight against Tamago.

Pedro is like Hilluk, a side character acting as the mentor, but he is not the subject. Carrot is.

In other words: Everything in Pedro's journey was constructed in order for his suicide to feel impactfull and to mean something. Pedro was litteraly designed to blow himself up. His fight, his story with the poneglyph and Big Mom and his suicide are ALL part of the cake that was distributed on Carrot's shoulder and on the crew.

Everything Oda has done for Pedro was meant to have an impact on Carrot, the crew and the future of the story.

That's why Pedro was important, but he was not the subject. The subject is the impact of his death on the characters and the story and in a way:

Carrot. Who tanked most of the pain

Dude let me remember what is the meaning of a background or side character,

A background character is someone who has no impact on the current story arc. Example is Carrot in Wano.

A side character is someone who is present in the current arc and the purpose of them is to bring richness to storytelling. Ex Tobiroppos.

But Pedro had three flashbacks, not including the one he shared with Carrot. The flashback with Roger, clearly shows what he is meant for from a narrative perspective, you being an amateur filmmaker like myself should be able to see that.

Helped SHs in escaping from WCI and getting a copy of ponyglyphs.

He sacrificed himself by helping SHs, and Luffy remembered him before going all out hundreds of chapters after his "death".

Now tell me who is a background character, Carrot or Pedro?

No. You can't negate the Tamago fight nor the suicide. Carrot did not get a 1 on 1 fight with narrative background. The suicide saved the Strawhats, Carrot, and Sunny.

Those two things alone puts Pedro above Carrot in importance. Oda put thought into Pedro's story. Not Carrot's.

Pedro had the past connection to WCI. Without Pedro the Strawhats don't get the Ponegliff copies nor escape. Narratively, Pedro had to go to WCI. Carrot not so much. If anything, Carrot was the side character to Nami and Chopper.

It depends on the definition. I can give you that if you want.

A side character is someone who is present in the current arc and the purpose of them is to bring richness to storytelling. Ex Tobiroppos.
Or Pedro.

For only one purpose, to impact the storytelling:

In other words: Everything in Pedro's journey was constructed in order for his suicide to feel impactfull and to mean something. Pedro was litteraly designed to blow himself up. And I'm not a filmakers, but a writer, at least for now.

Now tell me who is a background character, Carrot or Pedro?
None, those are two side character, but Carrot is the most important one for the story.

I didn't. Getting a 1v1 is not a sign of importance. It only means that you are adding importance on the storytelling.

Those two things alone puts Pedro above Carrot in importance. Oda put thought into Pedro's story. Not Carrot's.
Not at all. Pedro was not the subject. Carrot was and the emotion she bears.

Pedro had the past connection to WCI. Without Pedro the Strawhats don't get the Ponegliff copies nor escape. Narratively, Pedro had to go to WCI. Carrot not so much. If anything, Carrot was the side character to Nami and Chopper.
It doesn't mean that Carrot was not treated like a important side character (what I call a prime character =/= main character)

I understand the need to see Pedro as a prime character because he took care of a huge part.. but he was just a "stool" for the story, nothing more. His death and the reactance of the characters in front of that is what mattered.
