He said *around 10 crewmates* i.e around 10 people to join with him, or around 11 people on the crew in total, which ultimately has no meaning because anyone can draw the line anywhere arbitrarily to determine what is 'around' 10. If he wants 10 crewmates specifically, there needs to be an 11th member to join the crew. But the point is he could settle on 9, or want 14 etc. etc. etc. - the statement is useless.

Oda said that one more Strawhat was supposed to join in the early parts of Wano. So it comes down to whether you consider Jimbei to have joined in WCI or in Act 3 of Wano. I personally consider him to have become a Strawhat in Act 3 because that's when he started appearing in cover spreads

The captain isn't a crewmember. It's his crew. It's been the way since piracy existed. Does Oda not know something so basic is what you're saying? Luffy said he needs a crew aka he's not counted. Basic grammar once again. Zoro is called the first member of Luffy's crew for a reason.

Among all translators, they agree that the context between them must be the same so how come we should interpret one translation in a specific way that contradicts what a captain and crew members are?

How come Brooke is still called the eighth? How Usopp and Franky the 3rd and 7th? Why could the captain consider himself a crewmember just for this instance?
