Chapter Discussion No one deserves to get laughed at after they die

That’s precisely the problem though. Knowing that Luffy will win at the end doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t expect him to be serious when the situation calls for it.
In fact, that’s the way the story has always been. The Nika nonsense is actually the opposite of that. You can see it in every single major fight prior to Wano. When it comes to the final round of all of them, Luffy hardly ever smiles let alone laughs:
Crocodile
Enel
Lucci
Moriah
Hordy
Caesar
Doflamingo
Katakuri
When I last counted, Luffy smiles or laughs more in the Gear 5 fight with Kaido than in the last rounds of every one of those previous fights combined.
Luffy’s joy/goofiness is one of his defining traits…but so too is his anger/vengefulness. Both go hand in hand, and acting like only one of those defines Luffy has never made any sense.

And since Luffy became Nika he is aware he is the main character of a manga so he already knows that. There is a "meta" factor in Gear 5. Mistery solved. 
By the way this Nika thing its inspired by Looney Tunes and The Mask but its also a weed/drugs metaphor,isnt it? Luffy is like stoned right now lol

It feels like this post and the reaction for gear 5 in this chapter is a side effect of agenda brain rote, it's been said that awakenings has a chance effects someones personality and it has been said luffy acts differently in gear 5 pacificly laughing, he transforms he smiles and laughs it doesn't takes away the danger from situation if it's just a side effect of a transformation.
I think the only possible way Oda can salvage this G5 shit is if it turns out Joyboy/Nika isn't actually all he's cracked up to be and is more of a chaos god, and the sort of maniacal possession Luffy is under is indicative of this. Doubt it though.
The dick sucking of Nika from other characters like the giants is atrocious and the most cringe element of the series atm.
Think Oda is just losing his touch, a humorous author once capable of writing likeable characters has completely forgotten how to do either effectively, and his only recourse is to constantly remind the reader what they should be thinking in the most forced way possible.
