So you completely ignored my point that Shanks asked Mihawk if he came here to settle things with him.. When you're the clear winner you don't have things to settle with nobody.. You're also assuming Mihawk got his WSS title from duels with Shanks, when that's not the case..

Settle things with him in that context means to kill him because he let Shanks live after their duel for whatever reason. And Mihawks response was very clear that he doesn't fight has beens. I never said he won the title against Shanks. The Manga is saying he is the title holder and he fought Shanks. Would he have lost to Shanks he would not have that title, but Shanks would. If he had lost ever against anyone after receiving the title, he would not be the title holder.
But he is and that is the only thing that matters

Oda blatantly explained Mihawk’s title. The strongest swordsman is the one with the best sword skill.

He is purely the strongest in terms of swordsmanship.

But just like the strongest boxer can still be shot to death if his opponent has a gun, being the strongest swordsman doesn’t inherently mean Mihawk can defeat characters who have significant skills beyond swordsmanship.

Sword skill is the ability to cut what you want and not cut what you don’t want.

Swordsmen who don’t use their swords to actually cut are still swordsmen, but they are less skilled than someone like Mihawk.

If Kaido replaced his club with a sword, he wouldn’t immediately become WSSM. To act like that’s all that matters literally devalues the art Mihawk and Zoro dedicate themselves to.

He is a swordsman, but he uses his sword for haki beams and shockwaves.

The fact that Shanks has a higher bounty than Mihawk and is a yonko should give Mihawk ample incentive to take down Shanks, if they were truly rivals.

But they aren’t rivals. Shanks doesn’t care about swordsmanship. Mihawk dedicated his life to gaining the ability to cut anything. It’s what Zoro wants to be able to do.

Shanks literally doesn’t care about that and fights completely differently.

- Take away his renowned swordsman reputation and he as the Marine Hunter title. Yes, Mihawk did what people claimed and wished the Yonkos did for years, go after and fight the marines. He did that alone.

- Take away his marine hunter title and he possess so much power he can produce a nameless hakiless attack that requires a diamond defense to stop/block. We have never seen somebody produce an attack so strong using so little the power.

- Take away that power and we have the only character in the entire manga strong enough to fight a YC level character at a low level without even focusing on them and still not take a single hit.

People can cope all they want, Mihawk has never needed Shanks or the Yonkos for reads to know he's strong.

It's not that Whitebeard called their duels legendary, it's that in this era there was so few Legendary events happening that now Shanks and Mihawk duels were deemed legends when it wouldn't have been in the time of Roger and Rocks..
