These three - minus Garp which is debatable - were in their prime in a league of their own. Oden was just below that rank. Top 5 at the very worst imo.

He's still literally on the other side. Hawkins is the cavalry trope. He's the one who's going to save the day. I already predicted the match up of Kid, Luffy, Killer, and Zoro vs Kaidou and/or Big Mom, and I said they'd lose, just like how in Stampede, the supernovas weren't able to drop Bullet, and a new team came in. Zoro and Killer will do some minor damage, zoro might do his cut into kaidou that won't do anything but re-open the wound, maybe kinemon does it instead when he uses enma and/or momo's sword instead of zoro, but ultimately killer and zoro will either get pulled away to other fights or lose, then hawkins and drake will show up, hawkins bolstering the stats of all of them, and it becomes a 5/6 (if marco joins) v 2 yonkou fight.
This moment has literally been built up since pre skip sabondy by shakky, those 5 having a line up team up against kaidou and big mom.
Literally I've been right about the first matchup, and it'll fail.
A heavily nerfed whitebeard 2 hit akainu, sorry, admirals get low diff'd by fresh yonkou, they don't fair any better than luffy did in his first match against kaidou.

Oden was literally one hit by Prime Roger, and Kaidou is stronger now than he was back then, and that was kaidu's weakest form.
Roger = Garp = Whitebeard > Shiki > Kaidou Now, John, Big Mom, Silver Axe, etc > Kaidou and Oden back then
Oden is stronger than Rayleigh but much weaker than the captains of that gen.

somehow few years ago i used to believe there will be another short time skip for luffy to train with a top tier and be able to learn skills to defeat kaido, and this one would be gaban, but then i met Oden.
If Luffy, Zoro, Law and Kidd beat current Kaido they are clearly above Lolden. I would argue if they are not above him now.
You can't make a ranking of people who were killed due to the plot, and not take into account their prime potential. If Oden was still alive today he would be at the very least >= current kaido.
And he wasn't One shot,since he felt like nothing in the next panel, it's just his nature to go fight every oponent like that, and when you go like that you have to confront their attacks and understand it after. Exactly like what luffy does : He always attack without thinking, and get hurts even by fodder or non top tier for a few minutes - last case was vs Apoo and Zorro had to save him.
And that was not the Oden who fought vs Kaido, Oden was weaker there, let alone prime Oden - he never reached his prime due to plot and Oda;
You have to beat somebody alone to be above somebody who was close to kill the same person with all the disadvantages in the world. If he was alive would you agree he would be more or less at least current Kaido level?
