- When Jack was defeated, I told them to wait

- When Big Mom shot Ulti, I told them to wait

- When Zoro was in bandages and I was told it would be impossible for him to fight in the coming battles quick enough, I told people to wait.


Same deal, let's wait until we see the outcomes of the F6 matches. Let's wait until we see where Zoro goes. Let's wait and see who fights Kaido in the next 5 chapters. Let's. Just. Wait.

This nibante sometimes refers a second position in a rank, as far as I recall, which isn't the same as "second in command" and certainly not "first mate" which, again, is a specific word Oda uses and is nowhere to be seen not even in Zoro's Vivre Card.

If you go by a literal translation it doesn't say 'First Mate', 2nd in command is basically the First Mate which is why Viz translated it like that. In the Vivrecard, it says Zoro 'is like the Vice Captain'
