Now in 1038, she's dominating them once again and they used awakening to subdue her. Basically, she powers up to beat the duo she can already beat without powering up and still falls for almost the same attacks. When you power up after an attack, you do it so you won't fall for the same shit twice, and Big Mom did fall for the same tricks twice. That's the definition of looking bad.

In Luffy's case, we were explicitly told Luffy lost because his COC usage was clumsy.

I don't even know how else to explain this anymore. It's literally plot. Same reason Kaido didn't slit Luffy's throat. The Good Guys can't go dying just like that. The fact that Oda had to make that a point of dialogue should make it clear that it's nothing more than a plot moment. She doesn't look bad because plot holds her back from murdering them.

From the moment she came to Wano, her secondary goal has been Luffy. She has no personal beef with Kidd and Law. Hence why she doesn't go in for the kill when she had them down. She still wants to go up and settle things with Luffy. Same reason she doesn't continue attacking Marco despite having him in a chokehold.

If you think that makes her look bad, then thats your perogative. Nothing can change your mind about it if you think this makes her look "bad"

You know what I love? That him and Law primarily rely on their fighting styles and fruits to do damage. It's not about Haki for them. Law's fruit is about doing internal damage. Kid's about brute forcing and doing external damage. Every single attack Kid shows is about crashing and smashing whoever he fights, while with Law is about surgically hurting them internally

Game is set up for 1039/1040 if Oda intends to have them end the fight with bigger/more damaging moves (or maybe it lasts longer than that I have no idea). I'm kinda hoping Oda has them win by performing 2 double spread attacks off of Onigashima and crashing her into Wano. Would truly justify the severity of their attacks on her.

luffy understandable given his goal
zoro has no fruit, haki is all he has
a lot of great fighters shouldn't need to rely on coc.
devil fruits and other elements like sanji's scientific modification should still very much play a role in fights.
