Japanese scandals are like playground fights compared to Western world. They get disgraced just for having affairs or getting with fans who are more than old enough to consent and make decisions for themselves.
Meanwhile you got niccas like Drake doing actual p*doph*le shit and still walking around like they own the industry with fans staunchly defending his sorry ass. The Sabo shit is wild but like why should he get fired for it?
RIP to the VA anyways, he was a good man.
Thats absolutely true, you're right. Only things I draw issue with is that he apparently assaulted her (I've heard its just a slap too but still) and he forced her to have an abortion too supposedly. But aside from that I agree with you entirely, there is MUCH worse going on out there as you said with Drake, Diddy and many other "artists" and celebities generally, Falling In Reverse the band being another example too.
With Sabo's VA, its probably a case of Japan taking the image of their celebrities/talents/Idols or w/e extremely seriously, their reputations matter most of all and thus they needed this sweeping under the rug before it blows up and damages everything this VA is associated with, especially something as beloved immensely by Japan and even worldwide like One Piece and him voicing such a major and loved (and also hated ofc lmao) character too.
Japan can be really annoying with this shit as you can see here for example:

According to an article from a Japanese showbiz news site named Nikkan Taishu, in which the site did an interview with someone familiar with the situation, Sega wanted to publish Lost Judgement on PC/Steam to further extend the series' audience but the protagonist's actor Takuya Kimura's talent agency refrained them from doing so due to their very strict portraiture right policy (very limited pictures of their talents even on their website). Sega thinks this doesn't look reasonable in terms of business and decides to end the series with the second entry.
Most of the above info is in the 2nd page of the article.
Edit: Some of you ask why the talent agency prevent Sega from publishing the PC version, as I say in the post, the talent company "Johnny's" have a very strict portraiture right policy, they don't want their talents' portraits on "a PC platform that is not a game console platform and connects directly to Internet."
Well this more a specific talent agency but I know they take the image/reputation of their celebs very seriously over there.
Aside from that, I really dont know either, Im trying to figure out a logical answer for it but theres a lot of double standards, a lot of unjustified bias running rampant out there, selective morality or w/e. Japan is way more strict on certain types of crimes than we are in other countries but is way more leniet than they ever should be on certain types of crimes. The Watsuki incident being a truly overwhelming example of that too.
