The thing is, when we see a character defeat a YC2 or a YC1, we don't immediatelly assume he can also defeat a certified stronger peer, especially when the compared feats aren't in his favor.
It's obvious that he will continue to grow and he did get something good in Egghead, but if this wasn't Sanji being carried by the monster trio, if this was just Luffy having defeated Queen with a power up, people would be looking forward to his fight with King and would be excited to see him surpass him as well.
Sanji's placement near Zoro and Luffy is 99% carried by "maintaining status quo". And now that we got the Gaban statement, that's happening even harder. The 1% is the overblown hype his speed got among his fanboys.
Sanji can grow to be on Luffy and on Zoro's side again, but @HeroesNZ isn't wrong since he's talking about the later comparable feats.
Maybe Sanji has already been slingshotted by the status quo up there and everyone who hypes him will act smart, but if he has, he simply hasn't shown it yet.
