Just a clash imo, King has to come up to the dome to keep Zoro away from Kaido otherwise a swift death can unexpectedly end the arc.

This is another case where fan theories ruin the actual story. Compared to all the other possibilities (Vegapunk experiment, last survivor of an extinct dragon race, etc.), Kaido being the user of Fish (?) fruit isn't doing a lot for me...
