I am not a fan of the filler they used to make the fight between Luffy and Kaido (or rather between Kaido and the effects of alcohol) longer. But I especially disliked how Law was still able of using his df abilities despite the seastone nail.

they made king jong gun look like nothing, when in reality it could really do somethign to kaidou. and didn't kaidou speedblitz luffy, not just stand there to wait for luffy's attack.
I think they couldn't believe someone with Kaido's massive size would do a speed feat hahaha. I mean, that's their own interpretation of the fight. They also made Luffy use King Kong Gun and not do jack shit (which I wouldn't mind as well) cause Kaido being affected is supposed to be the advanced haki thingy.
Overall, they wanted Anime fans to enjoy an intense fight with their own interpretation of the fight with some different touches. (NOT YOU GUYS). Toei couldn't care less about Manga fans, because they ONLY come and watch an anime episode occasionally.
That's why anime only fans are having a blast with those episode, while the only complaints are coming from half the population of Manga readers (Not me though, as long as I know how it happened in manga, I have no problem seeing an anime extending or adding or even changing few things as long as animation quality is great to enjoy a nice view).

By the way, I just want to say
I liked the slow motion of seeing Luffy's face smashed with Kaido's club

I always thought that this is how Katakuri's "Buzz Cut" attack should have been animated. Though, they compensated it with a better ground slam whic felt more impactful than the manga during that fight. So, it's alright.

Garbage. Really no other way to describe this.

Dare I say I'd almost be fine with the old team, atleast they weren't blatantly changing the manga canon this much. They managed to completely change the meaning and impact behind this fight for the worse. Ok you managed to butcher the actual action sequences, is it too much to ask to atleast get the timing of the dialogue right? Jesus. Whoever was the lead director of this episode, in an ideal world would be fired on the spot.

If this shining heap of trash is what they were hyping up as their best work, then oh boy I can't wait for what's supposed to be considered the lower end stuff.

Even from a purely animation perspective it wasn't out of this world. Certainly didn't live up to the hype. Snakeman vs Katakuri runs laps around this.
