It’s to protect zoro fans fragile ego, zoro dukes strong characters and goes to fight pleasures and gifters. The thing is, if zoro stayed he would injured kaido, maybe, tho not as much as the scabbards combined effort, so what would it be? A paper cut lmao? Dude didn’t even have enma yet. And the. Zoro would get one shot, the same as luffy(luffy has blunt dmg resistance mind you and still went down, he took a beating for 11 hours and was standing,zoro is going down, especially after fainting to a tummy ache because he forgot his Advil and a stab lmao)

the problem is damaging Kaido is not a big deal anymore, the Scabbards already did it and they will damage him even more no doubt , so once its Zoro turn it won't feel special at all, and no giving Kaido a bigger injury or even killing him is not enough
it would just prove what we already know, Zoro is a stronger swordsman than the scabbards and his slashes deal more damage, Oda won't make the fight that predictable, especially when its a fight against the strongest creature in the world
something feel off about how Oda is treating Kaido durability, if Kaido was all about durability am confident he wouldnt make characters like Kinemon be able to damage him, and would save it to Luffy and Zolo and SNs
we know another trait about Kaido tho he can't be killed, and after Kaido durability became meaningless this soon this trait should be the next obstacle, let's see if Zolo giving him a bigger cut than the scabbards will matter or not, my money is on Kaido easily surviving his attacks and one shoting him
