Nah. Imu represents centuries of villainy and is central to history of the One Piece world and may even be the architect of its current state. He has the most powerful subordinates and reach bar none.
Almost every single antagonist & conflict from the start are a result of Imu’s rule and policies.
Blackbeard is just another rival for the Pirate King title with a force that at best is marginally stronger than that of the Strawhats.
Defeating BB leaves the world little changed from the oppressive state it is in now. Defeating Imu changes the entire world and resolves an 800 year conflict.

Then that just makes BB an afterthought after all the heavy labour is done. He just becomes an annoyance to clean up after the meat of the 800 year conflict has been resolved.

That doesn’t make it much better. At best that still makes BB a side interloper that comes in after Imu’s 800 years of tyranny for only a couple of hours at the end. It would just be the lineage of a past loser trying for it’s one moment of glory after the big winner Imu has been cleared as the greater obstacle.

The technology and Devil Fruits have avoided him. Fate doesn't allow Imu to really get any of it.
He may have 1 piece but that's after he struggled against fate to get 1, and even then he was never able to use it the way he wanted to.
Blackbeard may not be like that at all. He may be able to get access to that stuff without fate trying to stop him.
