I think what honestly bothered me were things he danced around and then...didnt go through with it. So ironically I wanted the arc to be slightly longer for specific things.
1. Lets bring back all of the exact members of the BMP that needed screentime and then not use them properly lol. If this is the end both crews, Oda could have drawn those sequences with a few of the bigger ones like with Peros
2. Lets hype up the idea that Kaido and BM have awakening, then never actually have them utilize it. Its a big reason peolle were disappointed with the fights. It felt like we needed at least 1-2 chapters more each
3. Why tease Kaido's background as Oni and then never do anything with it? King got more backstory on his lineage
This also just takes into account that if nothing else changed, Oda should have made the arc 20 chapters longer for the better to at least close out story arcs. Same thing sort of happened on Egghead...

Rewrite the arc to be only 90 chapters
I’d cut the Scabbards down to 5

Keep Koushiro the evil swordsman Evil and defeated by Act 2’s end.

King vs Zoro is fine but will be longer
Kaidos backstory right before final Luffy v Kaido face-off.

This sentiment or criticism has been repeated and stated many many times. It’s fine to think that he spent too much time on those characters, but it’s still just your opinion.
its not a perfect arc, but a lot of people enjoyed it to the point that the arc itself blew the series up both for the manga and anime. And you say yourself enjoyed parts of it.

I think Hiyori and Yamato were the same character, but it was changed because it would imply that Kaido raped Toki or adopted Hiyori/Yamato and then try to control her through violence and starvation to be the next shogun after killing Orochi, which is too dark for a shonen, it would make much more sense that Hiyori/Yamato liked Zoro at first glance because she would remember Zoro's uncle or whatever ancestor that guy from the cave was.
But those things did happen in canon.

And Yamato was controlled through violence, starvation, and incarceration.
The two of them don't need to be the same character unless you rewrite Yamato's Oden obsession. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense to have Kaido break Oden's daughter only for her to still remain faithful to her father's memory. There is no character arc there, unless you make the Hiyori-Yamato hybrid be as extremist and racist as Hiyori is in the memes.
