This is a question for both his fans and haters...
How do you feel about this character? Of course, Shanks rarely appears but every time he shows up, in some way, he impacts the story and the opinion of the fans.
So to be clearer, how do you feel about this character and how Oda deals with him in the story?

Lolda saw all the snitch rat memes in giving Shanks a lil more nuance and dmg controlled by creating a wholeass new character who looks exactly like Shanks

Shanks, Mihawk, Dragon - there isn't much to form an opinion on any of these characters Oda has been dangling and teasing for the better part of 30 years.
They're hardly characters, more like plot devices waiting to explain themselves and their purpose in the story.
I'll give a shit when Oda gives me a reason to. Until then, the only thing interesting about Shanks and characters like him are the characters in their orbit.

Shanks glazers continue to be afraid of the mildest criticisms of him. Glass cannon fanbase. They probably have PTSD from seeing rats and hearing squeaking now.
Ironically some of Shanks "biggest fans" could do well to learn from his own best speech, which not only fits perfectly for Luffy but also any Strawhat, Kidd, Law and whoever else:

he's a liar (lied to buggy about a treasure map), a deadbeat (see: makino), a bully (see: barto), and he's liked by mr infanticide, i mean lengoku.
and there's no way he didn't feed lord of the coast his arm so that a traumatized child would forever feel indebted to him and do everything the ginger snitch wants him to do.
and yes he snitches (that's how lengoku got ace's parentage Intel) and he poisoned roger, toki and Buggy.
