Character Discussion What's your Thoughs on Shanks's Character?

Most tragic character I know.

Dude has everything but the writer chose for him to become the ultimate sacrificial pawn for Nika.

Shanks' dream is probably to just make Luffy's dream come true. Meaning he doesn't really have a desire of his own or have already given up because he knows he doesn't have a chance anyways since he isn't the chosen one. Hence why he sacrificed his arm.

At least other Conquerors have tried to do it their own way which is admirable. Shanks is doing the right thing though which is honorable, but still tragic. This would be equivalent to Mihawk giving East Blue Zoro his Yoru because he knows Zoro will be the future WSS anyways.

Of course I know I can be totally wrong but this is what I'm getting from Shanks.

I think he's an amazing character I like the fact that he doesn't fight fair when it comes to fighting other people he would jump you, steal from you, and kill you without Mercy like a typical pirate way. He's basically like Blackbeard but his moral code is somewhere closer around the order side of things. Shanks is chill for the most part it really gets into conflict with the other emperors but he won't hesitate to attack him at 100%. Also like the fact that he is only a regular human in comparison to the other emperors of the sea that we have so far.

Far less interesting now.

Being descended from royalty already puts him in 'we've seen this 1,000 times before' territory. And he has a twin brother so it's likely that his power will not be unique.

Discount Roger with a better design than most. I really won't mind if he dies at this point.

Most of the hate here is from the fact he's too good and there's literally nothing to slander him about despite it being the same users that slander him daily lmfao. They're practically admitting they grasp onto straws to slander him. Complaining about oda not giving these insects enough material to slander him

:suresure::suresure:

Keep crying it won't change anything. This is just the opinion of an extremely niche community on a website for the 0.1% of nerds in the OP fandom

Inject your tears in my veins. Godking is just that goated :endthis:

Feel free to quote this and write an essay calling me a simpleminded baboon or whatever lmfao I don't care. You're absolutely seething at the very thought of Shanks being too good and destroying your favorite character's agenda

It's also hilarious how people are pretending to care about him being morally grey lmfao. 90% of you clowns don't care about writing, just agenda. You just wanted him to be a rat so you can slander him like you did for 6 years between 2018-2024. You're seething now because the only lame ass slander you had got destroyed.

You guys hated Shanks from the beginning and are coping he's too perfect lmfao smd :gokulaugh::gokulaugh::HoldThisL:

The sentiment that Shanks is a Gary Stu or Boring is one I can absolutely understand. On the other hand, I can't shake the feeling that he's only boring or a Gary Stu because we simply don't know enough about him in the first place to hit him with the Gary Stu stamp, or see if he's actually secretly really cool and awesome.

I always have liked Shanks but I have to admit I haven't liked him as much as I used to ever since his interaction with Bartolomeo.
What was wrong with his interaction with Bartolomeo? He tested his loyalty to Luffy, and seeing how loyal he was, he let him go.
Do you wanted him to kill him?
Or are you contributing Yasopp's decision to Shanks?

the problem is not him solely being nice and heroic. I always have loved strong heroic nice characters like goku, naruto, all might, kakashi, ect. But these characters arent made strong just because they are nice...they put in the work and go through struggles and tough situations, the author isnt fixated on making these characters look cool every single time. Shanks on the other hand is only strong BECAUSE he is nice. There is no reason, its just a depiction of what oda wishes he was like in real life. And his fighting style also is extremely generic, this is why fans were hoping he would have some other kind of fighting style. All these shounen series have these strong nice guy type characters but shanks is the worst written of the lot.

With that being said, this is a childrens series at the end of the day though, and being nice and strong is all you need to make a character thats likeable for children, they dont really care about depth, so he will remain as one of the most popular characters regardless

Shanks HAS to be strong, because he is Luffy's role model. That's his role in the story. You don't have to overthink it. He is your typical Gary Tsu character, and there is nothing wrong with that. Cliches are cliches for a reason. Because they work. Why is it so wrong to have one good, nice strong top tier in One Piece? Instead of finding out why he is strong, you should consider his role in the story and does he fulfill it well?
In my opinion, Shanks fulfills his role as Luffy's role model in the story quite well, therefore he is a great character. Simple as that.
I am 23 years old and I like his character. Do I have a childish mentality?

Shanks could have easily stopped Yassop and the fact he showed no concern when Yassop was getting ready to shoot shows he was fine with it.

It's pretty messed up to play mind games with someone, let them go, then shoot them in the back when they start sailing away.

I don't hate Shanks it's just very out of character for him and it has made me like him less.
