Imu does not mean Buddha. There’s a theory that Imu’s full name includes some additional middle names and surnames that make it sound like the Japanese version of Buddha, but that’s just a theory.

The only obvious implication of the name Imu is that backwards it’s “Umi” which is the Japanese word for sea/ocean.

Imo, it does not make sense because Sabo was not there. From a narrative perspective, it does not make sense for Sabo to be the person to fight and defeat Akainu for Ace. He inherited his fruit, not his will. Luffy inherited Ace and Roger's will. Whitebeard essentially says as much during Marineford.

Plus, Luffy was also scarred by Akainu. Anything other than full pay off from Luffy punching his face in does not make sense imo.

It's possible. Anything's possible. But Sabo clearly had no ill will towards the Blackbeard Pirates over Ace and I'm sure he'd have a similar mentality concerning Akainu. The issue a lot of people have with it is how it isn't satisfying in the least. Luffy went through Impel Down and Marineford to save Ace only to fuck up and need Ace to sacrifice himself for Luffy's own sake at the end. Luffy was physically scarred and hunted down by Akainu even after he lost consciousness.

Luffy's one big character design change during the timeskip is entirely because of Akainu—think about that. That's massive.

So handing Akainu off to Sabo isn't entirely impossible but it's like giving Mihawk to Shiryu. It's lackluster. There won't be as much emotion there and the big bad leader of the Marines, an organization present since chapter 2 of the series, won't face off against the protag.

It’s literally an exact quote from the manga where Luffy asked Ace what killed Sabo in the grey terminal flashback, and Ace responded with “I don’t know but it’s the exact opposite of Freedom.” - Straight up referring to the Celestial Dragons being the opposite of freedom. AND THE CELESTIAL DRAGONS LITERALLY ROB PEOPLE OF THEIR FREEDOM THROUGH SLAVERY
