I removed unnecessary dialogue because Kaido is talking about multiple things, such as how luffy learned haki to damage him
so to make it easier for you to comprehend what Kaido was talking about in those 5 pirates panel

Agree with the post you also missed a thing, Oda separates the black writing about Kaido thinking about "what happened in kuri etc." and the "....!" behind of Kaido looking at luffy silhouette, and then stating are you implying etc.
For me that separates the "only a handful can damage me.." with Kaido having an other thought popping up in his mind while looking at luffy and for a second believing in his "I'll surpass you and become PK" with the "are you implying.."

Excellent!Zoro's aim has always been directed towards the true strongest of them all.
Never went after or even mentioned Whitebeard.
For a short while he aimed at Kaido because he had heard that Kaido was the toughest in the world.
Forgot about Kaido as soon as he encountered a masked guy who was soaking up damage on another level even compared to Kaido.
In short, Zoro never doubted who the true strongest is because to not doubt, that is power.
kaido is a guy who never left his island in like 40 years. his top 5 list is the people it is because he only ever clashed with oden, people at god valley, and shanks telling him to fall in line and stay away from marineford. also garp not being on that list does seem like more evidence to me that kaido is the one who betrayed rocks at god valley
If Mihawk was in Kaidou's "list", we'd just have 200 posts instead with, "wow so Mihawk and Kaidou fought in past, and Kaidou is still alive? Wtf???? Mihawk < Shanks XDDD"

If Kaidou's list is anything but about the people he's actually fought (or seen fight) in the past, we'd have to ask where Rayleigh, Garp, Sengoku, Akainu, etc. are.

The way people treat Kaidos Top 5 like gospel will never not be funny to me. Some people on here act like his actual title was the Worlds Wisest Creature or some shit like that.
The man was tough, and strong, and had a pretty busted devil fruit all things considered. He is as far as I know never described as somebody all that knowledgeable about the way of the world, nor does he travel and seek out strong opponents if I am to be real here.
The man chilled on Wano for most of his career. He is arguably one of the worst sources for in-universe power lists.
Kaido is also stupid person in-universe straight up, like lets be clear here. He wants to kill himself but does not drown himself why exactly?
Because no, the cope about it being "just through battle/war" is proven false via his literal intro being him jumping in an attempt to kill himself. He was not fighting Zeus in that sky island okay?
Oda wrote him as somebody who wants to die, but he never even thinks of some ways that SHOULD kill him. Like eat two fruits, drown yourself, stuff like that!
But hell even IF him only wishing to die in battle was it, why doesn't he instead of shooting Oden in the head like a coward after he got so mad over him and their duel getting interrupted let Oden heal and fuck him up again?!
The same slander people use for Mihawk never gets applied to Kaido for some fucked up reason despite him not even having a specific skill set he seeks out in people he wishes to fight and there being DIRECT evidence his title is fraudulent instead of cope from the haters online. Like IMAGINE if Mihawk killed Oden after he got distracted mid-fight by one of Mihawks allies.
Kaido got fucked up by a basic ass dragon twister but King did not. He for SURE is not tougher than his own subordinate yet some people treat him like he is tougher than Kin if ate the diamond fruit for some reason. Imagine if Zoro used a basic attack to block Mihawk but had to use Asura to do the same with Fuji?

Why does Kaido, the totally death seeking strongest creature in the verse not attack Elbaf? Marineford? The Holy Land? All places probably filled to the brim with people that can give him a good fight.
Instead, he chills on Wano, and sure me and other people that acknowledge this is a story, do know Kaido had to act like he does much like Mihawk does so the story can happen.
But if you DON'T do that? Why the fuck are you not slandering Kaido for doing fuck all most of his career much less accept ANYTHING that guy says about the power level of the verse?
