Questions & Mysteries Why is One Piece compared to Naruto?

Taxes Are a Sickness
Kishimoto said that he refrained from the exploring the other villages cause he didnt want Naruto to feel like One Piece which is a dumb reason imo. Even though he was more character focused, he admitted he focused too much on Naruto n' Sasuke and forgot about the others.

Even Orochimaru faded into background outta nowehere.

Its funny how both One Piece and Naruto have opposing problems. Whilst Oda focuses on Luffy a lot, he neglects the other SHs for dumb side characters, for the simple reason of world building. Whilst Kishimoto neglects everyone else just for Naruto and Sasuke.

Maybe they should come up with a story together and have Kubo illustrate it?

Whilst Oda focuses on Luffy a lot,
*rolls eyes* Yes because god forbid the main character be the focus of the story.

he neglects the other SHs for dumb side characters,
Uh, this literally Does Not happen. The strawhats are not "neglected" in any arc. They're always getting fleshed out even if the focus isn't on them.

for the simple reason of world building.
It's never that simple. Oda always make sure that giving side characters focus works on multiple levels of the narrative.

It sure tastes godlike. ;)

He's not wrong, though.
Although Oda has spent plenty of screen time for other side characters, the straw hats still have a deep focus on the story - e. g. Brook and Chopper's character developement in WCI.
Chopper ??! Lol and what development was that.

Im sorry but when were spending time on irrelevant useless charactwrs like Flambe, Holdem, extended cast of Dressrosa, etc. Like shit isnt needed lol

Both Brook and Chopper were encouraged by Jinbe not to let Pedro's death in vain and before that, their will was utterly crushed after hearing that Pedro sacrificed himself to save them.

Sure, it is not that great when it comes about Sanji's own character development in WCI but Oda sure didn't neglected other Strawhats. Heck, Brook hold his own against a Yonko - if there wasn't Katakuri, Brook would be the MVP of this arc imo.

Flampe's whole purpose was merely the fact to showcase Katakuri's change during the fight; she represented those people who blindly overhyped Katakuri asf and that's why, Oda portrayed their exaggerated reactions on Katakuri's real face that hard to show their delusions on their big bro.

You're right with Holdem, though.

Like Brook is the only character done justice (potentially Nami too) in WCI. Sanji wasnt done no justice at all and was embrassed at the end of WCI. Chopper literally done nothing and that development means nothing when he literally has no presence at all.

The rest of the arcs are all Luffy focussed. Wano is time for Zoro but he hasnt shown any growth in character or even strength lol.

How does Oda's ass taste my I ask ?
Thats it? Instead of wanting to know how you're wrong, you just assume anyone who disagrees with you is a fanboy? Wow.
You don't have to "lick Oda's ass" to know what character development is.

Chopper ??! Lol and what development was that.
Are you even paying attention? Chopper's whole character story was about how he was a child still learning about the world. He was the youngest of the group always needing their guidance, now after the timeskip he's the one playing the Big Brother and guiding the children to growth. We see this with the kidnapped children on PH, as well as made blatant in WCI with Carrot where he makes her into his little sister and takes control of the situation by coming up with a plan to capture Brulee. He's also gone from being afraid of being seen as a Monster to after the timeskip whole heartedly embracing the idea of being a Monster if it means he can help Luffy. Theres also another current on going storyline with chopper involving him curing the "illnesses" caused by Caears's experiments and how they mark his growth as a Doctor but thats best saved for when that storyline is done.

None of those characters were irrelevant or useless. They all served a specific use & role in the narrative.

Well that, and add nuance to the dynamics of the Charlotte Family as a whole. Everything about her just says so much about how they treat eachother, how they see love, their obsession with control, and being seen as superior.

From reading all of this: I don't think you even know what a character arc is. Your concept of "being done justice" just seems to revolve around characters getting to "look cool" rather than understanding what their character and personal stories are even about.

Lmao the damage control is strong with this one. Im not even gonna read a smidge of this. I just gave my 2 cents to the question asked above. Good day.

So giving a quick overview of the character's arc is "damage control"? You asked 'what development' in regards to chopper and I provided you with an answer.

Im not even gonna read a smidge of this.
Of course not. Because it seems you're an idiot who loves to spew bullshit and then can't back it up the moment you're challenged on it.

If anything you said had any sort of validity you'd at least be able to defend your position. But apparently you can't even do that.

Let's talk Naruto Villains.....majority of the big villains were just bad.....

KAGUYA
Let's get the obvious one out the way first. Kaguya made her debut in the final 30 chapters of Part 2 and there was no foreshadowing or build up to her arrival. She was created for the sole purpose of killing off Madara and at the end of the day, was simply sealed away without leaving any impact.

PAIN
Pain was a great villain with a bad ending. The most infamous example of the fabled "talk no jutus", Pain or should I say Nagato, was convinced by Nsruto to give up on his warmongering peace plans. Why is that a problem? Nagato was an extremist war veteran who has been following his plans for decades and was talked out of it by a naive teenager who knew nothing of the world. Nagata them brought every person he killed(except Jiraiya), back to life.

OROCHIMARU
His only problem was how went from the major antagonist of part 1 to a side character in part 2, who's only role was to be Sasuke's convient puppet for the plot.

KABUTO YAHUSHI
His biggest problem was that he was bland with no personality....even in part 1, Kabuto was simply Orochimaru's lackey of unknown origin. The Sound 5 only served to show just how one dimensional and bland his characyer was and in early part 2, played 2nd fiddle to Sasuke. Later, Kabuto took on Orochimaru's appearance and powers, making him a discount version of the original who had charisma and charm.

OBITO
His motivation ended him the moment it was revealed. Obtio is a 30 year old man who wants to live in a fantasy world with the illusion of a 13 year old girl he's still in love with....aside from that, Obtio was playing 2nd fiddle to Madara and is repsonsible for the biggest plot hole in Naruto, in that after dying, somehow came back as a ghost and somehow gave Kakashi double mangekyou who somehow knew how to use it perfectly.

Madara Uchiha
At the end of the day, Madara's issue was that he wasnt even needed for the plot. The only role Madara served was to escalate the stakes which was unnecessary given the climatic conclusion of Juubito. Kishimoto himself admitted that he even made Madara too strong and didnt know how to take him out hence, Kaguya's last minute creation.

All OP Villains: "Haha I'm evil....see my generic villainy for 3 episodes of screen time"
