I haven't watched fairy tail. Heard it's absolute trash though. And that's from people that think OP is good.

But OP is fairly comparable to Naruto IMO, although I think the latter is better, even with all its problems. They both have interesting worlds and lore but are full of inconsistencies, poor character development, ass pulls, too many characters, etc.

As someone who's just started the anime of One Piece and as someone who's watched Naruto I just can't figure out why these two series are even compared? Every OP fan (or most people) shit on FT but I feel like OP fits in a category with FT better... I know its usually whichever you watch first is better for you but I fully believe MHA will surpass the big 3 and enjoy it plenty but OP lacks intensity, true conflict, deep emotion, stakes and god its not a great anime adaptation. I'm enjoying it well enough but like I said its comparable to FT for me.

Imo the comparison is bcoz they are the most popular shonen out there, but Naruto despite being good in the beginning, gets pretty boring and had bad writing towards the end of series, so much repetition and even the big war in the end seemed boring to me... One piece on the other hand has so far delivered good and absorbing content.

I've read/watched Naruto more than any human probably should. Tactics in part two were still heavy maybe not as much as part one but they were still present and again why are you talking to me about this when every fight in OP is either they get a magical new move/form or a punch barage for the win, besides Nami's god awful magic storm scepter.

Naruto is "edgier", but that hardly makes it more intense than One Piece, which tackles pretty heavy subjects itself. Sure it does things in a goofier fashion, but it's more to alleviate from the high tension moments.

When you think about it, Robin and Sasuke's backstories are very much alike. How their people were wiped out due to being perceived as threats. The difference is how they coped with it, the last words uttered to them on those tragic days. For Sasuke, he diverted all his attention towards hating a particular party, be it Itachi, the Leaf, or even the Shinobi system, while Robin isolated herself from everyone and considered her existence meaningless. Yet similarly, both needed the acceptance and friendship from their comrades to open up and be healed from what troubles them.

Never got why people assume Naruto is edgy just because the stakes are higher, the slight edge present starts and ends at Sasuke. Could it be called dramatic??
