Seriously though, never letting Kidd and Shanks have a proper fight and giving us proper exposition and flashback on what happened with Kidd meeting the RHP before, how he lost his arm and who to, Shanks actually giving Kidd a reality check with words and not just imitating Roger in a recycled attack is immensely frustrating and disappointing. Oda was really lazy and cowardly.

The sheer irony of Mashima giving us a far better version of this with "NotShanks"/Gildarts vs Natsu and thus a far better written character in Gildarts too:
