A complete 180? Kishimoto literally resurrected Itachi specifically so that Sasuke can have a character arc that changes goals at the end of the story… this is called “Character development”… Maybe it seems weird to you since you’re only used to One piece where it doesn’t happen…

it’s actually possible for a story to challenge its main character’s beliefs and have the main character change even fundamental aspects of who they are based on like actual in story motivations and reasonings

btw, all in all the Edo Tensei shit did more harm than good to the story but a very clear VERY GOOD that came from that plot point was Itachi’s resurrection

My guy, there is a reason why the naruto and Sasuke dynamic has become iconic and repeated in all modern Shonen… This is by far the best thing Kishimoto has written and Oda would be LUCKY to do anything as good as this with any main character… Like not even Luffy could achieve any good character stuff that compares to this let alone Zoro or any other side character

What are you even talking about. This is about the Naruto and Sasuke plot line, and the fact that Kishimoto had to come up with a BS reason at the end, just so they'd still end up fighting.

It has nothing to do with character devolopment, or character arcs, which yes was there, but was just a piss poor excuse to appease those who wanted to see Naruto and Sasuke fight.

Continously changing the reason for a certain event to still take place is terrible writing. You either stick to the original plan, or change the outcome completely. You don't just keep moving the goal post.

Their dynamic has fuck all to do with the way this shit was written, just so they'd still end up fighting. That ruined pretty much everything, character development or otherwise.

Luffy left an Emperor to a group Jinbe+Franky+Robin stronger than Vista, Luffy isn't blind he can see they are there to help clown. Luffy never ordered anyone to solo an Emperor and he only left that because he was busy with a stronger Emperor.

By comparing this situation to that you and now your ZKKfriend @nik87 just debunked yourself on your own as Marco had to deal with an Admiral so he left Mihawk to Vista.

Itachi being a good guy was fine. Sasuke changing his mind about wanting to destroy Konoha would have been fine also, if he would have just teamed up with Naruto to end the war.

The problem was, is that Kishimoto still wanted to give Naruto and Sasuke a reason to fight, so he came up with "I'll just make Sasuke want to be Hokage" plot line. Either make them enemies or not. Don't just come up with something just so they still end up fighting.

That's where the ball was dropped on the Naruto/Sasuke plot line.

Bruh did you just forget what Sasuke meant when he said that? They weren't fighting for the title of hokage. Sasuke wanted to rule the world, hence becoming the ultimate kage

Itachi was way better as a morally gray tragic character that killed his clan due to politics and died without ever seeing the results of his sacrifices.

Kishimoto ressurected him, turned him into a hero and gave him the possibility of saying goodbye to sasuke, aka, he erased the tragedy of his story and erased all the ambiguity that gave itachi such an interesting role.

Turning itachi into a full blown hero was a MISTAKE.
