The World Strongest Title is a renowned title

In order to achieve the title you need to be capable of contending with the best and be the best of the best.

By defeating the owner of the title you become the World Strongest Swordsman.
(Zoro in East-Blue was looking to defeat Mihawk to prove he is better, Zoro was not looking for a Giant Object to cut but a person to slice down the (title is not about feats)

Whitebeard was the WSM while Roger was alive the title was given by the fact he mastered his DF and was capable of destorying the world, BlackBeard at this point and time has the Gura-Gura and is not the WSM.
Why bring this up ? It doesn't come down to the tool but the person Yoru doesn't make Mihawk the WSS, Mihawk being so powerful and above others makes him the WSS.

Side Notes :
Kuma ~ viewed the title as something with high ambition
Mihawk ~ (Current WSS) states that he will wait for Zoro at the top (One of the strongest in verse)
Kuina ~ states that Zoro will surpass her in strength and when that happens he'll be a better Swordsman(even though she has more skill than Zoro, the title isn't only about skill)

For the time being he is just stronger than Mr1 and not far from Vista

It depends on the narrator stylistic choices, he actually is in this instance since the title has no reference hence it's always considered as author's confirmation in these cases.

IF Fujitora was able to BEAT Mihawk in a FIGHT, Oda would've made him the WSS.

Don't care about Fujitora beating Mihawk or vice versa, simply answering the OP on how one can gain a title, you're crying about the wrong things. Oda also has a story to write, you keep bringing Oda up like it wasn't Oda who emphasized cutting feats as well as a MC Zoro being obsessed with cutting (the basis for him growing stronger on the path to WSS).

if I was to place a bet on anything , he got his title the same way kaido got his, wb got his, garp got his title as a hero as well but was downplayed for a long time. people need to start respecting the weight given to these titles. They are not frauds.

Kaido fought top top tiers ... beat Oden (top tier), beat high tiers as Lufft Kidd hyou Ashura....
Challenges the strong , he even went far to remove bm cuff so that he gets to fight her at full power.

WB fought top tiers....never run/postpone matches

Mihawk.... error no record of him fighting top tier or beating an high tier
Runs or postpone challenges

But "Mihawk got his title as kaido/wb"
Also no where kaido/wb title is debated by comparing their skills to high tiers like how WSS title was.

Never compared a TITLE THAT APPLIES TO EVERYONE to a title only for a specific type of fighters

Why zoro is particularly aiming for this title?

I dont see vista , tashigi or fujitora (all of them swordsmen/women ) i dont see any of them talk about WSS?

What differentiate others like Roger , Big mom , Shanks , Rayleigh they also use sword and all of them were top tiers . Why Mihawk has the title ?

Mihawk is the strongest living swordsman so you have to defeat in battle to be the strongest living swordsman

We saw why Zoro decided to be WSS, it was a competition with kuina since he figured he couldn't beat her so he aimed to fight her for the title of WSS when they grew up... But of course that didn't work out so he decided to carry on her dream and gain the title for both of them

Being WSS is a title with no ideals or gains associated with it so the only reason one would take it up is pure pride. To be the strongest plain and simple... Fujitora we know has no desire to be the strongest so he isn't so why would he want a title that has nothing to do wth his goals... that goes for every other swordsman... they don't want to be the strongest so they don't try to be... they can want to strong but that's different from wanting to be the strongest...

Mihawk is WSS despite shanks, rayleigh, and big mom being swordsmen because he is the strongest... Mihawk specfically wanted to be the strongest and so he became the strongest... Everyone else has other shit going on... Rayleigh retired to bone his girlfriend and relax... Shanks passed his ambitions to Luffy... Big mom was focused on political marriages, popping out babies and taking territories so once again none of these people want to be the strongest swordsmen so none of them are... the title is purely based on singular combat prowess and no one expect Mihawk in the verse specifically cares about their own singular combat prowess above everything else... That's why Zoro won't become like mihawk... He will beat him and yet he isn't as single minded as him so he will essentially be better than mihawk even from a philosophical stand point

I always assumed the World thought Mihawk and Shanks were the World's 2 Strongest Swordsmen ( tied ) , but after Shanks lost his arm the World started calling Mihawk World's Strongest Swordsman

But Mihawk displaying greatest feats for Swordsmen and people started calling him WSS is possible as well

Not sure if Fujitora can be a contender from OP people's perspectives but i think before Mihawk and Shanks dueled , he was a peaceful , docile guy

So he wasn't recognized as a top tier before

I think we got it a bit wrong to be honest, zoro said he wants to be the strongest swords man out there when he was a kid. Hawk is considered by many to be the strongest out there but so is vista if I'm not wrong and that was said in a sbs.

The title it self is the ambition of one person to be the greatest of them all and to achieve that you have to fight the strongest until no one wants to fight you.

So what I'm saying is that WWS is a title people attribuate from their perspective and some times they agree on whom it is, but at the same time is a personal goal every swordsman should have :That of beeing the best and recognised as such
