Personally, Yamato's Devil Fruit killed quite a bit of my hype for her. A mythical Zoan could have been cool, especially since so little is known about the Makami so its unique ability could have been anything. I don't get why Oda decided on just slapping on ice powers. That just feels underwhelming.

Consequence of being an arc only side character. Oda doesn't need to bother going the extra mile to ensure her powers are super creative, unlike with all the other straw hat dfs and abilities.

The foremost thing regarding her fruit is what it represents as a guardian of Wano. Also...

She will carry on the legacy of her samurai friend and resume the master/mutt dynamic with Momo.

Smoker joining would have been intriguing but I feel like he would have never helped the SHs betraying his marine code.

I don't even expect him to ever become a temporary ally unless Akainu and his regime will be so betrayed at the war that will happen but I don't quite see it cause it's not in his personality.

It’d be possible that Smoker will finally see how corrupted World Government is. I have a feeling that when One Piece ends, Smoker will probably be the Fleet Admiral. Garp, Hina, Issho, Coby, etc will be on his side too

Smoker is an interesting candidate... A high ranking Marine officer, a decent and non-OP Logia yet has a Kairoseki-imbued weapon, and someone who once stalemated Ace...

Though I believe Smoker will, at most, be Luffy's "Garp"... I think they'll work together against a common major villain at some point...

Kaido was the official guardian deity of Wano yet he was still going out to sea as a pirate and leaving for extended periods of time for expeditions. Oden, Izo, and multiple Wano samurai went out to sea and became pirates.

The scabbards were called the guardian deities of Wano just for protecting the island and Izo, a scabbard, is a pirate.

I know but regardless who ever did he wanted them to be the guardian of his wano, while yamato was the shogun
but since she ate it he pushed all those expectations on to her

Thats how I took it at least, because there is no mention of a guardian deity from the wano citizens, in japanese mythology foxes are considered good luck and messengers, which is why they are looked at with such high praise and that inspiration is what i think Oda drew from with Onimaru
