I see the resemblance now, thanks. To be honest though, I still think it has nothing to do with anything, but rather a random connection you are trying to piece together to disprove Minks though....

She's not a poorly written character any more than Chopper or Nami or Robin or Zoro have been the last 400 chapters lol.

It does not disprove the Minks, but it shows that the Fishmen race is more relevant than the Mink race in the story. I would say the Giants have also been more significant than the Minks and they are part of the grand fleet. It's more conceivable to have the Hajrudin of the Minks(Carrot) in the grand fleet than a part of the main Strawhat crew.

I can't argue against that, however they were orginally very well written which is what you would think of a new nakama.

Carrot's only a poorly written character if she is meant to be a Strawhat.

As a supporting character she's perfectly fine. The only real fault would be the totally underdeveloped relationship with Pedro, which was poor for a side character and would be a catastrophic failure in a Strawhat.

Once we start seeing Strawhat esque feats from her, i will be the 1st to say her chances of joining are increasing, but so far (3 arcs in since we saw her), she just hasnt shown it. Not a single arc has been about her so far (even as a top3 character importance wise), and since we know all about her past (unlike with Robin or Nami when they 1st joined for example), chances of her getting an arc are almost non existent.

I personally think Jinbe is the strongest "new recruit" we were ever going to get, so basically the next (last?) person is probably, in the least, weaker than Zoro/Sanji/Jinbe.

Imo we either get:
another 3 members, making it 13 members in total, so the Mugiwara no ichi (1) mi (3) becomes true
just one new member, making Luffys statement from the beginning of the manga true
or we get no one

As for strength i dont think anyone as strong as the top4 will join, unless we somehow get Hancock. 2nd strongest candidate would be Pekoms whos above the mid trio but behind the top4.

Agree with this... Next recruits would be around the level (Post-Wano) of those "mid tiers" in the crew...

I doubt we'll get another "ZSJ tier" or "weak tier" in the crew if not Vivi or Momo...

Yep nicely summarized. People think we find faults in her character or something or even hate her.
She is fine for what she was intended to be, a Strawhat replacement for one arc to bring new dynamics into the interactions. Just like the Grand Fleet did that in Dressrosa.

Look at the backstory of nami and robin... of sanji and franky... or to zoro's and chopper's ambition... what jimbei tries to accomplish (+ he was mentioned WAY BACK in the east blue)... to brook's promise( which goes WAY BACK to the east blue/ entrance of the grand line)... look at usopp's tale of becoming a brave man, usopp, who was just a weak, coward liar.

She only wants to have a few adventures, which is perfectly fine but why has it to be as a straw hat?
Her role would be much better as a pirate under the grand fleet.

Everyone who wants her to join says only "she is cute" or some shit like that... sorry, but she is absolutely uninteresting.

For example, pedro is a muuuuuuch more interesting character.

Well he can either die on the spot or wait for his chance of revenge. Backstabbing might not end well but its Moria, the guy wanted to attack Kaido again. I dont think he fears the BB pirates, though hes smart enough to realize fighting them at that moment is suicide.
