General & Others Top 5 Oda L’s of Wano

#42
G5 is the perfect final form for Luffy’s character.
Maybe, it's up to you to decide what you like or not, but the clear problems of continuity were discussed at least a thousand times.
The Nika Nika was one of the worst retcons I have ever seen in terms of execution.

Hell, Oda himself even said that he didn't want to give Luffy the Mera Mera because it would have been too strong. Now we discover that he has the fruit of a god lol.

1. Zoro having no character arc or even unique story focus in the fucking land of swordsmen

2. The fights. All the fights in general all ranging from mediocre to horrible

3. Kaido’s character and backstory

4. Oden’s character and backstory

5. G5 retcon and reveal being stupid
Zoro fans don’t want Zoro to have an actual character arc. They just want him to get cool feats, act stoic, and deliver cool one-liners until the end of time

Honestly you can answer this with 1 word: Oden.

Everything bad traces back to him, think about it.
damn, how on earth did I manage to forget the God-awful, cringeworthy Oden's dance? It was so bad I almost quit the series. Oda's ultimate fail moment in the entire series.

What you smoking? G5 is one of the biggest W’s of post-TS
Whats your least favorite Luffy's gear?

Oden sucked, but his presence had nothing to do with the Calamities and F6 being so pathetic, the BMPs doing nothing, and BM being a joke yet again
Think again.

Because Oda wanted to focus on the scabbards for the sole purpose of dickriding Oden, he didn't have panel time to give to the Calamities and Flying 6 during earlier acts, which also lead to him rushing the final moments in Onigashima because he realized the arc was going on for too long and he was ready to move on.

Imagine how much better Wano would be if the number of Scabbards was reduced to five. Why did Ashura and Kawamatsu need to be their own characters? Denjiro could have done everything that they did during the 20 year gap

Luffy used G3 against Lucci, probably his best fight in the entire series. Like it or not, G5 sucks. Even if I let the gomu gomu retcon slide, G5 doesnt follow any rule. It turns a serious fight into a Tom and Jerry episode with cringeworthy eye popups, an absolute shitshow. Rubber awakening could be OP on its own and Oda should have gone in that route instead of Nika Nika bs.

Luffy is supposed to be the ultimate representation of freedom. Having a DF Awakening which makes him free from even the laws of physics makes sense. It also justifies G3 and G4 tbh. Making your punches much stronger by blowing air into your bones or muscles makes no sense since you’re only increasing the volume, not the mass (and the increased surface area of the impact would reduce the pressure of the attack, making it actually weaker).

I’m a Zoro fan… Also who gives a fuck about fans… this is Oda writing it… and Oda fumbling Zoro is on Oda, not the fans

@ZenZu This

i think in the back of people’s minds they don’t realise how much this affected the arc. Even the people who think Oden’s flashback was good, don’t realise that so many specific aspects of how it was done boiled over into the whole arc and affected the whole arc negatively

This was genuinely when I gave up on the arc. Like I couldn’t imagine in any world that Oda would fumble a main flashback of an arc. This was probably the last aspect of good writing you could attribute to Oda and he still fucked it

"Actually, Marco shows up and kicks them out of the story"

4
"Kid and Law are awakened so Big Mom can't fight back anymore"

3
"I'm still writing this shit? Okay well Kaido doesn't block and they both fall in lava and die"

2
"These characters look too much like the hero right? Well fuck them. Zoro falls down, Yamato cock blocks herself, and Luffy is Ryuma."

1
"Fuck the Kurozumi for being born"

Those are just five, of course.

1. Oden was literally A Gary Stu
- As a child he stole the wives of many men
- He charmed the Worlds Strongest Man Whitebeard and Pirate King Roger
- Oda literally retconned the story for Oden wank with having him hear the seakings and the Poneglyphs
- Every character wanked him despite everything in wano canonically being his fault

2. Completely random power levels
- Definitely more of a problem with the manga but the power levels really didn’t make sense in this arc and seemed to deviate wildly all the time

3. A failure to follow a basic narrative principal such as Chekovs Gun.
- Nidai Kitetsu showed up, but that’s all.
- Ushimarus fox had zero reason to exist
- Zunesha was useless
- BMP and Marines pointless

4. Pointless character twists
- Drake switching sides literally was pointless and added nothing
- Yamato didn’t need to exist, the entire arc would’ve worked fine without her
- Killer eating a Smile had zero resolution
- Grim Reaper for no reason

5. Shanks
- The only characters who wank was as annoying and unwarranted as odens.
