I wasn't a fan of the idea of Kidd coming back.
But now that Sanji just got stared-diff by one of the final villains, Kidd would most certainly come back.

The idea that Oda would somehow kill off this character, in the most embarrassing way possible, for the sole purpose of hyping up Shanks, is ridiculous. It’s not particularly good writing, especially when Oda has shown time and time again that these off screen fake out deaths almost never amount to anything.
Pound and Kinemon had much less ambiguous death scenes. Pound has far less build up than Kid. And Oda had both their deaths be fake.

Kids not coming back to beat shanks and he’s definitely not coming back to fight luffy. So what on earth would he even be useful for in your opinion?
I think he becomes yonko after Luffy defeats Teach
I also think Oda will expand on his character more and set him up to face the WG in the final war.
Anyways Kid dying now would be a much greater character assassination than him becoming Luffy's ally. Kid was set up to be one of the leaders of the next generation. His story can't end with him getting one shot by Shanks.

What’s the point of a yonko when Luffy runs the entire sea as the King of the Pirates. There’s not going to be any Yonko or Emperors cause the entire world will be hoisting Luffys flag.
Kid becoming a cheerleader watching luffy accomplish a dream kid gave up on is easily the worst case of character assassination this manga would have.

I think Law will join Cross Guild, because he isn't a conqueror and hence probably won't be yonko.
Rather him taking advantage of Buggy and pulling the strings from behind seems more characteristic of him.
Kid on the other hand needs to become an emperor imo. Oda had no reason to give him CoC if it just went nowhere.
