Speculations Is there any doubt that the “certain pirate” Shanks was telling the Gorosei about was Luffy?

Yep, imo last chapter killed the idea of it being Blackbeard to me because Saturn still had to ask them what their goals even were. If it were regarding his lineage (assuming Saturn just didnt know after he ate 2 DFs), why did Shanks wait 2 years to disclose it? Why does that warrant a private conversation with them anyway?

And the only way I see it being Luffy is if he were some mustache twirly villain looking to "Aizen" Luffy at a key point, which isnt something I see anymore or even what Im saying about the character, at least not in a way that is superficial or in the least, less complex than I would think it is. He clearly didnt tell them about Nika, because it took observations from about Zunisha showing up to make them guess it. That said, what I said in my first response in this thread, the timing from seeing Luffy's bounty poster to talking to the Gorosei is VERY odd, so it could still mean something.

I do think Shanks needs Luffy for something, that much is clear, and he does have his own goals for the new Era (as Oda has stated). It does not, however, have to be "pure evil" or "wrong" per se, just that his goals with Luffy just might not align. Thats really it.
The timing of Shanks' talk with Gorosei is weird in relation to Blackbeard if the conversation topic indeed is Blackbeard's lineage. Their attitude towards BBP didn't seem to change either? And it also isn't about Luffy's fruit.

I'm starting to fear Oda is getting tangled in his own plot :lusalty:

Im sure there is a good reason for it, but waiting 200 chapters for an answer is definitely not lol

You blanket responsed my entire post with its an "over analysis" when all that was frankly stated was Shanks talking to the Gorosei as a pirate allows the reader to question his motives lol. You disagree with the subject, thats not an "over analysis". Oda made it a shocking doublespread for a reason and even the editor wrote "what is he doing here?" To exemplify the confusion the reader should have.

Of course its a very important piece of his narrative, but like I said (and you seem to agree with it), its not his only narrative importance, so the person discussed doesnt have to be Blackbeard.

But that STILL doesnt change the fact he talked to them.

Yes it is?

Once again, comparing Whitebeard to the fucking Gorosei is so horribly unjustified its not even funny lol. Whitebeard, narratively, is a good person. The Gorosei, narratively, are not.

And why would he need to warn the WG about Blackbeard when Blackbeard literally started a war, killed Whitebeard and became a Yonko? Whats there to warn? He's already a threat to them, this literally has nothing to do with Luffy lol.

Which was found out this past chapter bro, not when Shanks spoke to them lol

Im really not sure what the point of sharing these pages is supposed to signify to me lol. Like no shit I know what he wants. The point is Saturn didnt know until he asked Van Auger.

And on that basis is the pure fact that if thats the case, Shanks warning one evil about another evil doesnt ABSOLVE him of any wrongdoing.

Come on dude.....downplaying this is ridiculous. Its okay for Blackbeard to want to be King of the World, The WG wanting destroy all threats to them, and Shanks ALSO having ulterior motives. The issue is you dont want the latter to happen because it might harm your mentality on what "needs" to happen to Shanks via Blackbeard.
I can say the same to you that you aren't willing to accept what I said is simply because you don't want that to happen because it harm your mentality on what needs to happen between shanks and luffy

Anyway, we are going at it for more than a year lol

Let's see what will happen after few years if both stay on worstgen to find it out

Anyone who claims that Shanks only decided to go after the OP because Crydo and Meme were gone (instead of it being because Nika finally emerged) is fucking retarded and honestly is not worth your time
Says the guy who thinks shanks went to WG to talk about Luffy....

No. Shanks is wise enough to know he can't beat both Kaido and BM at same time. Yonko deadlock exist for a reason 🤡
Don't bother

They causally overlooked that shanks also had a newspaper along with the bounty poster and RHP were celebrating Luffy victory over kaido.

They causally overlooked that shanks was actually smiling seeing luffy poster and had the flashback of him sacrificing his arm on new era

They overlooked that he went onto proclaim that Luffy victory is dawn of new era which scares GB

It could be that luffy bounty poster played some role but that's more of a speculation right now but saying kaido and BM fall didn't is just pure BS because their fall literally opened the gate for others to step up

Literally these 2 things are not equal. If Shanks warned the WG about Blackbeard (as if for some reason, they didnt just see everything he did at Impel Down and Marineford 2 years prior and doesnt know his notoriety as a Yonko lol), this is not remotely the same thing as trying to save Ace's life and stopping Whitebeard from starting a needless war.

The 2 things have nothing to do with each other, again, even IF you sacrifice all logic and think Shanks is warning the WG about Blackbeard, a person who is a Yonko already and started a war and killed Whitebeard and stole his power.
Oda is an obvious writer

He uses fake hypes : that man, that guy, certain pirate ...

I also thought at times that he went to talk about Luffy but the story so far telling me that Shanks loves to keep tracks of Teach and always watching him

They know it wasn't about Luffy becoming nika lol

Shanks waited for his rivals to fall to start flexing on new gen and claim one piece

Yeah, I always thought it was about BB, but as time passes I am less convinced since nothing happened after it, and Saturn just saw two BBP and wasn't even very shook about it.

We don't really know if they knew it before or not. And if it's the lineage in question, then it's odd Shanks didn't tell them after the Marineford fiasco and waited for years instead.
We know because we know they didn't know the first thing about Teach. They even talked about how he was the first in history to eat two fruits, even about the D., but nothing about this bloodline of his.

And Shanks is the man most obsessed with Teach, so him talking to them about a "certain pirate" and then Saturn discussing this lineage thing, which they treat like some kind of secret, it's quite telling.

This has been my fear ever since Nika. You’d think that Oda would have seen enough examples of stories derailing because the author wanted to be unpredictable or got tangled up with their own ideas…but it seems that things may be going down that road unfortunately
