We'll ignore for a second that Luffy defeated a yonko who was the world's strongest creature and is most likely going to defeat a Gorosei who is stronger than his subordinate corporate slave and cog in the machine

We'll also ignore that Luffy already defeated Kizaru temporarily and dealt with him in a similar manner than Lucci, highlighting that he is above him

Defeating an admiral is not bringing him anything else at this point

Nope. What we know is Oda has a sixth sense for fans finding ways to downplay his MC. He does stuff for tension momentarily, but he doesn't like when Luffy leaves the arc looking bad and actively takes steps to give him as much spotlight as possible at the end of it. This is why he made Kaido state how Luffy can "truly go toe to toe with him" in 1037. Off course it didn't stop a big part of the fandom downplaying Luffy anyway. Perhaps that's why he drew Luffy laughing through everything this time round. Too many people still cope by nitpicking at Kizarus 1 shot, Zorotards nitpicking at Luffy literally sleeping whilst fighting Lucci etc etc. So yes Luffy does still have plenty to gain. Oda's sixth sense is perhaps why Zoro and admiral fans took all these L's this arc. We know there'll be plenty of clowns in the admiral and Zoro fanbases that'll try to downplay Saturn and wank Lizaru even if both Luffy just 1v1s Saturn and will use feats from Kuma and all shit to downplay whatever he does just because he fights Luffy. So nah, Luffy 1v2ing Kizaru + Saturn is better, or at least Luffy clearly having taken a good 60%-70% of Kizarus HP in the 1v2 first, so they don't get this chance to disingenuously downplay Luffy. We'll see how the full summary and raws are because I'm confident Luffy will look even better in them. But there's already the vice admirals, kaku, Lucci and the Seraphims for the Straw Hats if Luffy is 2v1ing the whole way :cheers:
