Many words actually have opposite meanings, such as love and peace.
To some love = unconditional respect and support
To others love = overbearing possessiveness and stalking
To others love = forcing a particular lifestyle/belief on others "for their own good"
To some people peace = accepting each other's differences and trying to live amicably
To others peace = making everyone bow to you if they don't want to be fought into submission
Hence Christianity is the religion of love, Islam the religion of peace but it's pretty much interchangeable.
And don't get me started on Western Harmony vs East Asian harmony.

Plus, they don't understand that their vision of language is a very western vision. They do not consider that words can actually have different meaning in different culture hence why dictionnaries are by essence not the best tools to understand a word.
