The dragging is directly related to Vegapunk though. The self-absorbed five hour speech :whitepress:
Nah, it dragged far before that, that's just the cherry on top, the whole getting off the island thing took ages, and the fight against Saturn was unreasonably dragged out considering they all figured out they can't really damage him permanently.

The fact this chapter is most commonly rated 1* is hilarious to me - just goes to show nobody here actually cares about story and just want to wank and powerscale specific characters. This chapter brought closure to the majority of open-ended questions remaining in the Egghead Island arc - it was perfect for its purposes. Min. 4*.
There's tons of chapters that dragged the plot in Egghead, this one wasn't one of them, it was a nice arc closer.

Climax didn't deliver. The rest was awesome. On to Elbaf.
We're not done.

Very close, though. 2-5 chapters at most, then a bit of post arc.

I can finally post this analysis, I've been waiting for the chapter release. Let's look at how we got to Egghead:

Pre Wano-Wano:
-Reverie abolishes Warlords
-Gorosei kill Cobra, Sabo gets Cobra's D
-Wapol and Vivi escape from most secure area in world full of security cameras

Post Onigashima
1053-1057:
-Robin/Law, then Caribou learn of Pluton
-Cross Guild
-Man Marked by Flames mentioned

1059:
-Introduces Seraphim
-Koby is "Kidnapped"

1060:
-Luffy says Sabo wouldn't kill Cobra
-Luffy wants to rescue Vivi, Zoro won't allow it unless Vivi is in serious danger
-Luffy reveals his dream
-Robin talks about the Man Marked by Flames
-Lulusia incident with Uranus. Rebelling island with Revolutionary on it gets destroyed.
-Sabo flees and survives.

The wildcard here is the Man Marked by Flames, he could show up whenever Oda wants him to. Outside of that, I think we can piece together what's going to happen, because Oda really likes having arcs come full circle.

East Blue starts with Luffy going into a whirlpool, and ends with him climbing a waterfall (Reverse Mountain).
Alabasta starts with Luffy punching a giant sea mammal (whale) in the ocean, and ends with him punching a water-based reptile (Crocodile) into the sky. Arc starts with Smoker chasing, and ends with Smoker leaving and more or less becoming an ally.
Skypiea starts with a knock up stream, ends with the Straw Hats falling out of the sky.
Water 7 starts with the Straw Hats looking to fix their ship, and losing Robin because of Pluton. It ends with them burning it/getting a new ship, and a crewmate who can build a new Pluton.

Wano started with the Straw Hats going up a waterfall while separated, by the Koi fish that become dragons in mythology, and ended the arc going down the waterfall united with allies, after having defeated the dragon in question.

Egghead started with Seraphim, the Gorosei, and Uranus.

In Amazon Lily, Teach was attacked by S-Hawk, and S-Snake attacked her own allies (the Kuja), and Koby had to stop S-Hawk from destroying his own troops.

In Egghead, Saturn had his identity stolen by... Catarina Devon, who was also on Amazon Lily.

So, we'll see the Seraphim attack their own allies once Saturn orders them to kill the low-ranked Marines who saw the Gorosei transform. And, Saturn will factor into this, because S-Bear and S-Snake genetically HATE Celestial Dragons. In Amazon Lily, Koby sacrificed himself to save his crew-mates, and went with Teach. In Egghead, Kizaru will sacrifice himself to save his crew-mates, while staying on the island to hold back Saturn and the Seraphim that don't rebel.

With the Gorosei, we saw them murder Cobra, and Saturn has constantly referred to humans as "replaceable" insects, when Saturn himself is a spider, which many people would call an insect. IMO this foreshadows Saturn being replaced for his failures in Egghead. Garling would be a great replacement, IMO.

Finally, the final catalyst for Vegapunk's decision to erase his memory was Lulusia's destruction through the Mother Flame powering the Gravity Machine Uranus.

"An insane amount of energy was stolen!"

This leads me to believe Imu has more than enough charge for one Uranus shot.

This operation was well planned: the Gorosei and Marines set out at least a few days ago. If the Gorosei needed more Mother Flame from York, wouldn't they have just asked? But, they didn't. Why? They still have plenty of fuel to use Uranus.

Uranus is Imu's ultimate trump card here: but, Imu isn't stupid. Uranus was sent to Egghead once Imu realized the situation.

Imu will trust Saturn and the Seraphim to clean up the Marines that need to be killed, and secure York, the Mother Flame, and Punk Records.

And Uranus will deal with the Straw Hats and Giants.

I also expect Vivi to get captured and sent to Impel Down, soon. Imu is the highest authority in the world and requested her, but, I think the Marines are going to uncover Vivi's past ties to pirates through Smoker, and Smoker will more or less use Impel Down to hide Vivi from the World Government.

Thoughts on Smoker having the Man Marked by Flames Poneglyph, since the Man Marked by Flames is rumored to be government affiliated? Where there's smoker, there's fire?

Ayo

What if Smoker beat the Man Marked by Flames offscreen?

Finally, I'm pretty sure the other three Seraphim are supposed to attack Cross Guild at some point. Need to reread that section.

Yeah I think S-Croc, S-Gecko, and S-Flamingo are going to attack Cross Guild

The plot looks absolutely nonsensical with what we've learned this chapter in mind.

The memory wipe was pointless and idiotic, it only served to give the WG the initiative when the Vegapunks were the ones with all the cards in their hands. They've known that York leaked their void century research for an entire week and learned about the Lulusia situation the very next day. York should have been captured and destroyed on the spot. That weird excuse about keeping her alive to learn what the WG's intent with the Mother Flame is is downright dumb since they already deduced that it was used to power an ancient weapon in that very same scene.

They know that the very fate of the world is at stake and instead of immediately destroying the one individual that will gladly work with the WG to power their weapons, they decide to let her run around freely. Instead of broadcasting their message to the world as soon as the preparations are complete, they decide to set up some completely unnecessary "only after my death" trigger for what exactly? Give the WG the luxury of having their forces on site to potentially stop the message???

Why was the fact that the WG were the ones who fired the ancient weapon even omitted from the message? With this chapter, we know that they, in fact, already knew the culprit at the time of recording but for some reason decided to leave things vague for no logical reason???

What is Oda doing....

Can't wait for Sanji vs Kizaru rematch in elbaf or marineford
:myman:

Oda making lame excuse for Sanji not to fight Kizaru in egghead (Dr. Vegapunk dying wish)
:whitepress::whitepress:

Kaido was great
BB will be greater
Kaido himself failed to kill a single member of the alliance in the war of Onigashima.

That's just downright pathetic.

Heck, he couldn't even kill Kinemon when he was out cold in front of him.

Not only that, but even Yamato (!) managed to stall him in a 1 vs 1 for God knows how long.

Couldn’t have said it any better.

Anyone has any prediction for Shanks next move? If he goes after Blackbeard, he might actually be off paneled by Ancient Weapons, that would suck ass. Best case scenario is we get to see a all out fight of the current Yonko in laught tale. Buggy could try to get in contact with Shanks. That would make for some fun panels.

It's Oda style, man. We didn't get to see BB vs Ace in pre-ts either. Oda is saving Admirals awakenings and haki hax for the final war.

This arc had the best pacing of all arcs post-skip. Prove me wrong.
IMO Shanks was about to go after Bartolomeo when Kidd rolled up with the worst timing he could possibly manage.

If Oda wants to cause actual conflict between Luffy and Shanks, then Bartolomeo burning down Shanks' flag is the easiest way to do it. I don't think Luffy would get mad at Shanks for protecting Elbaf, but if Shanks hurts Barto, Luffy will be pissed.

All i know is I really hope that Elbaf has its length justified. Be it Akainu or the Burned Scar Man or someone else, if the arc lasts 100 chapters, please give everyone actual character growth with actual enemies

VPs message bothers me the most. Instead of revealing the antagonism of the WG, when he HAD clear evidence, fucking marines like Koby still think Luffy is the problem lol. Its almost maniacal how it was set up this way.

I'm starting to feel like you have a hard time letting arcs go :suresure:

Strong haki is all nice and good but how is Joyboy's lethality?
If he is using Healing Punches like Luffy does, what say you?
Are his reaction times good enough to put up a haki barrier before Jackpot?

We don't know enough about Joyboy to decide whether he wins or loses against strongest right hand man in history.
King's abilities, at least a majority of them, come from his race not from a DF so Joyboy's haki cant cancel shit
Wow. What a marvelous, stupendo fantabulously fantastical thinking.

I will not ask you Mr 1 vs Joyboy because i already know your answer.
